Modes when derestricted

Hi guys
First post here was just wondering if i do use something like the speedbox do all the modes(eco, toir, etb, turbo) still work the same, just over the 25kph limit.

Off road/private property...no problem with. I notice the Speedbox website will not ship to USA and Canada

Okay that's cool, however, that really does depends on where you live worldwide. There are plenty of places you can safely ride your E-bike without putting anyone in danger. There is some flexibility to this restriction IMO. There are plenty other companies that make the delimiters for E-bikes that will in fact ship to the USA.

I don't think there are any bike police to chase him down? Kind of a joke really, we have people around here riding regular bicycles with gas powered motors doing Way Over 20 mph, and I have already had my Aurora up to 25mph without trying hard. I think it's only in the urban city environs that anyone cares about this stuff. Those of us in rural areas could care less, I ride for 20 mile stretches and seldom see a car, maybe a pickup or tractor. So the suggestion of where you live affecting this is right on, it take the one Sheriff around here a day to respond so I don't think they have to many posters up on E Bike speeders, in fact I seriously doubt they would even know what a E Bike is, let alone be looking for one. Been here 20 yrs. and only seen One on the road! other than mine.

Deristricting a class one and making it a class 3 isn't the magic free speed many think it will be.. Wind resistance over 20mph is a huge factor

I agree DDBB wind is certainly a limiting factor, living right on the beach in Oregon I can attest to the wind issues. In the months of July and August we get wind pretty much every day at about 11 am out of the North and it can be brutal at times even when walking. So early rides are a must for me, but as you state even when it's still at above 20 it gets a lot of resistance going. I only go that fast when I am sprinting for a distance but normally I run around 15/18 mph almost consistently. A comfortable cruising speed for me. Now we don't have bike trails here with walkers etc. so I am always on a road of one sort or another, on a trail I would feel better around 10//12 mph. Only time I ever rode on a bike trail was in Eugene Or. trying out a bike, the shop backs up to a long trail so great for testing, but I didn't like the traffic and people walking on there, I prefer the road where I don't have to dodge and weave.

I have a Bikespeed RS on one bike and occasionally use a Badass Box on another, both Bosch CX bikes. Both work jsut fine with all the usual assist modes they just keep up the assistance higher than 20mph. The Bikespeed RS does not interfere in any way with the data/speed readout, The Badass Box causes the speed display to be very inaccurate. The reality is that either one makes crusiing speeds of 20-27 on flat ground, no wind possible depending on assist levels. I do not use these speeds on mixed use trails, only on the roads. It is so much safer to be able to move through town at the same speed as the cars. Other than the fact that some jurisdictions have poorly thought out laws restricting ebikes and the manufacturers will void a warranty, there is no good reason not to have one.

It's not the E Bikes that are a danger on trails anyway it's the headphone, I phone, I pad, I watch, looking people who don't have a clue the world is going by, even their walking is monitored by electronic beeps, cadence, heart rate, miles covered number of steps and the distance to the nearest Starbucks for a 8 dollar mocha latte brewed from beans picked with surgical precision only when the wind and sun were right, with coconut sugar and whipped special goats milk steamed to a monitored exact temperature !! What ever happened to just going out for fun and enjoying the world and a plain old cup of Joe. Who ever decided a bicycle had to be of a certain type and could only go a certain government regulated speed anyway? Ride free and as fast as you want, last time I looked this is still the USA and freedom should be first and foremost. We don't need laws and regulations pertaining to our every function in life......JMO
