Well I guess its a good thing mine is sealed up. I've had it for so many years I can't remember what I paid, but it sure as hell was nowhere near $100.I found out the hard way that Kroil evaporates VERY quickly.
I made the mistake of leaving it in an oil can with a narrow open spout. A whole pint was gone in a little over a week!
It's been over 10 years since I bought any. Back then, it was just slightly more expensive than WD40. Like you, I have a gallon can with a pint or so left.Well I guess its a good thing mine is sealed up. my way of doing things! The re-purpose charity got back to me this morning. Off to the Jesus mall this coming Tuesday or Thursday. Gonna load the little pick-up truck with everything I don't need, let them dig thru it all.
i am told a mixture of acetone and atf works pretty good.havent tried it yet dont tear into as much stuff as i used to.Just passing thru and noticed Kroil was mentioned. That stuff is very highly regarded by some in the firearms world. Its a pretty good cleaner/solvent/lube/dip. I bought a gallon of the stuff years ago and dropped parts into a soup can I made holey with a drill and some spare time.
And... oh. my. god. its over a hundred bucks a gallon now. I still have the gallon paint can full of the stuff and was going to toss it as I am moving, but instead I think I will build a little shrine for it somewhere.
both are becoming ridicously expensive,an economy size( gal can) is availible from harbor frieght with considerable savings per oz,just buy a spray bottle to use it,really helps in the electronic dept( i always flood the battery compartments of older electronic things which i mistakingly left alkaline batteries in,now i always use zinc chloride batteries( usually stop working before they disintergrate-better yet use rechargable nimh batteries,if voltage is not an issue)PB-Blaster and Kroil are probably in every DIY mechanic's tool box.
There isn't anything that I haven't been able to disassemble with WD40 and a heat gun. Contact cleaner/ isopropyl alcohol for electronics.both are becoming ridicously expensive,an economy size( gal can) is availible from harbor frieght with considerable savings per oz,just buy a spray bottle to use it,really helps in the electronic dept( i always flood the battery compartments of older electronic things which i mistakingly left alkaline batteries in,now i always use zinc chloride batteries( usually stop working before they disintergrate-better yet use rechargable nimh batteries,if voltage is not an issue)
