Made in America??

I am in the market for a folding E-Bike. I had been looking at the RAD Mini Step-Thru, as I would like the ability to go off road and even on the beach. I'd be very happy if I could support a US company and workers right now. Does anyone make a bike here that might fit my needs?

Are you asking about assembled in America? You'll maybe have to suggest something based on percentage of parts made in America since no eBikes are totally manufactured here.

Okay - designed and assembled here. I understand that a lot of the parts are made in China or Taiwan.

Even though it may be designed here, almost all if not all ebikes are assembled in China or Taiwan. The only exception to Asian assembled ebikes would be the German brands and even they probably have large part of their components made in China.

Vintage Electric does make beautiful bikes.

Electric Bike Company does at least partial assembly and finishing in the US:

FWIW, I can attest that Rad employs dozens (possibly hundreds by now) of people in my neighborhood and have been hiring steadily.

The high-end of Luna Cycle's line - the Apollo and Apex - were designed and are assembled in the US (Los Angeles) - although the Apex hasn't been available for over a year now. Also, most (all?) of their pre-built conversion bikes are done in the US (here's a video:
).

Luna does sell some bikes, like the X-1, that are imported with only finish assembly in the US.

Prodecotech?

They're ebike motor manufacture.

Pretty close to 100% USA...the hub motors are probably China sourced. Too bad the bikes are ugly and most of their batteries are rear rack mounted. They don't seem to be keeping up with the latest trends.

I thought Prodecotech made their own motors, unless they're importing them from China and simply re-branding them?

I didn't see a motor assembly line in the video and it wouldn't be cost effective for them invest in the R&D and build the motor selling it for $150-378, especially with a 20 man crew. Chinese manufacturers will stamp your logo with large quantity orders.

Totally worth it imho. My Shelby edition arrives next week. Roadster & Scrambler are lonely. #America

Vintage Electric

I would say the Vintage Electric is one of the most American ebike companies out there.
It was featured on Jay Leno's Garage, officially licensed by Carroll Shelby, and the company was created by a young American entrepreneur.
Sure, it does use foreign components like Crystalyte (Chinese) motor and I believe it has Panasonic (Japanese) batteries.
But that's like saying Corvette is not an American car if it comes with Bridgestone (Japanese) tires or Brembo (Italian) brakes.

As you can see, this bike was not like mass produced in Chinese factory.

Nice looking ride... where are the frames and other major components manufactured?
