kit questions?

Thanks John. The kit is from Voilamart and so far has been working great. This is my first ebike and I have not ridden a "mid-drive" or "rear hub" bike yet. When I bought two of these kits a couple years ago, I knew nothing about ebikes and didn't realize forums like this existed. I can't believe how much I've learned in the few months I have been a member...

I like my front hub motor, a Mac12. I had a DD 1000 W rear hub, chewed up a lot of wh on the hills I ride. Was difficult to get over the step out of the garage. don't ride a front hub power on wet rocks, slick steel, wet wood bridge decks, etc. The rear tire still wears out more often than the front, even though the front is powered. I don't even have to unplug the motor to change the front tire. Just turn the bike upside down.

Then I might give this a try, though most of the year it can be pretty wet here. I have a very light road
mixte, the rest of the kit, batteries, & though it has a freewheel, I think I can rig it up front. Does yours
have a cadence sensor? Mine´s´s a 1000w 48v. I have a light 8ah battery that charges in 2 hr. Could
make a nice summer spare or put in front on my gasser & have a true hybrid hybrid. I even have a
generator I could plug into the USB port & charge while I ride.

99.999% of my road surfaces are asphalt or concrete. It rains 200 days a year here, I have clothes to deal with that. I dodge manhole covers and walk the bike across the 10' wide slick steel plate the contractor laid over Utica Sellersburg Rd to get his muddy dozers & loaders across. Some poster here fell down on his bike on a wet PA bike path bridge deck. I don't cross any wood bridge decks but respect the problem. Wet rock doesn't happen here but I've seen rock replace pavement a few places in CO KY WV back roads and in TX washes.
I don't have a PAS pickup, the luna came without an input for it. I hated ebikeling PAS anyway; 11 mph is too fast for level 1 and 500 W is too much acceleration. I was afraid to **** with the ebikeling programming, 38 parameters and a mistake could make the controller useless. I'm not sure ebikeling even speaks English.
I use throttle, much as our Polish friend hates that. The 15% of the time that I ride powered I use throttle. 85% ride unpowered no throttle. Just no more 6 hour @ 4.5 mph days struggling into the wind.

I got the rear wheel kit this afternoon.
It has a steel frame and fairly beefy dropouts which is good because the torque arm won't work on this bike with slightly slanted horizontal dropouts.

You can make a torque arm point any way you want if you take a flat 10 ga piece of steel, drill 2 5/16" holes, then connect the dots with a round & triangle file. Warning those file shaped objects at Harbor Freight are toys, not tools. Buy nicholson. Takes about 90 minutes. Use safety glasses with power tools. A vise grip pliers from petersen is useful for holding the work. Warning, lots of imitations of those for sale now too, useless toys. The clamp screw hole should be just big enough, say a #10 drill for 10-32 screw. Mcmaster sells real steel 10-32 from TW, in the higher grades of Stainless like 304. Those mild scrap screws from HD are ****.
