Kiox milage indicator not accurate

Anyone know if the distance traveled indicator on the Kiox is just an estimate? If it's not accurate does that mean all of the indicators or measurements are not very precise? Maybe someone else has experienced this also. I didn't find anything searching the forum threads.

The milage reading on my Kiox isn't accurate. Example: ride 7 miles, turn around on the same trail, when I return to my starting point the indicator says 13.4. It's not just a one off, either. Happened on all my rides that I took the exact same route out and back - about 8-10 times as I just got this bike in April. The trail is mostly straight and flat - not that I think that should matter.

Thanks for the input.

The speed doesn’t jump around, it does change in 1/10 increments quite a bit, but doesn’t seem erratic.

I don’t know how I would gage how accurate it is unless I find someone else to compare with or maybe I can get a speedometer app on my phone?

you can use your phone with many apps. also not sure what bike you have but its good t check to make sure the magnet is in the right position.

Thanks, good point. I have a Zen Samurai and I'm about to install a front mud guard and a front rack so I'll check the magnet while I'm at it. Zen called me this morning about something and I did mention the Kiox milage discrepancy. We'll see if they get back to me about it.

that shud not happen. doe the speed seem normal its not jumping around?
Last night while on a short ride the speedometer started to jump around like crazy. I sent an email to Ravi at Zen E-bikes last night at 11:45 and WOW! he responded right away, 1:46 AM his time.
He let me know they would figured it out and get back to me. Super customer service.

This morning, Blair, the Zen mechanic, called me to say it's probably the magnet out of alignment. He explained how it should be positioned. I'm vey happy with Zen support.

I got it right by screwing that up myself.

I checked after you mentioned it and I thought it was aligned properly. This morning I learned there is a + plus mark/cross to center it on and I hadn't seem that before.

At least now you know, albeit 30 bucks off. The closest bikes shops to me refused to even look at any bike they didn't sell so in addition to a shop charge it takes more than two hours for me to drive to a friendly bike shop and back - haven't even considered riding my bike there.
Hopefully, when I do get the magnet adjusted, it works properly. Right now my area has so much smoke from the fires in Canada is's like heavy fog so I don't really want to ride to see if I got it adjusted properly.
