If anyone can please help me in giving me instructions how to take the cover off the batteries on a 2009 KABS Ride Ebike
model TDL-01. I would be ever so grateful. I’ve tried everything and looked everywhere online to no avail. The manual that came with the bike didn’t even show where to plug in the electric cord! I bought it used but it looked like it was just rolled off the show case floor. I have recently been having some issues with it cutting out while riding and I want to check my batteries individually to see if possibly one or more might be bad or going bad before I shell out mega bucks at a shop but the cover isn’t cooperating with me! I don’t want to damage my bike. My little buddy in the pic enjoys riding it as much as I do. Gotta get it up and running good again. Anyone???

If it has lead acid batteries, you might be able to do something if you got in there. If it has lithium, those are welded together and it takes special equipment and training to do anything. I'm pretty skilled but I'm not trying that soon.
There are three places that work on lithium ion batteries, Las Vegas, Ohio, and some individual in Florida. You're not authorized to ship a lithium battery without $$$$ of training and certification. See the maintenance forum below for details, or the bike resources guide up top where there is a battery maintenance thread.

Thank you. It does have lead acid batteries. My issue is i need to check each battery to see which one is the bad one and then order one. I cannot seem to find a way to remove the cover from the batteries to get to them. There is a handle and I assume you pull on that after doing something but I’ve tried everything I know to do and it’s like it has been crazy glued shut.

I'm no help I'm 1000 miles away. Your personal information shows bradenton FL, so any members down there that can take a look some afternoon give her a Private Conversation with contact info. Don't post phone # or email here, webbots are watching and will bury your equipment with spam.
If nobody answers in a day or two post a new thread with the title "remove bat cover on Kabs Bike" under maintenance forum down near the bottom of the main page.
I have one suggestion. I have rather light duty arms for a man, and some products have snap on covers held down by springs so strongly that I can't remove them. A drill press belt change cover, for example. Those I take a 1" wide chisel with a hex shaft, and put the blade in the crack between the parts. I push on the handle with my hip and twist on the shaft with a suitably sized wrench. Sometimes that does the job.

Googling Kabs on the internet and there is a small news clip on the bike and the company owner. Seems the bikes had the battery in a location different than yours. No other pertinent info at all to be found on the net for this bike.

You can try snapping some more detailed photos, close ups of the cover to help folks here better get a handle on how the cover is secured. Top, sideways, bottom photos.

You might be best off seeking out one of those golf cart shops down in your town of Bradenton, sound them out to see if they are familiar with that particular bike. At the least, it would seem to me they would be the ones that would have access to your model battery.

Or seek out a Batteries Plus type store, which specializes in nothing but batteries.

Good luck and let us know how it works out for you. Cute doggy there! I'd love to be able to take my young Beagle on my ebike runs, but she's got some maturing to do first!

I have asked a couple of people around here but of course they wanted me to bring it in their shop and charge a service right off the bat. If it’s just a battery or even two I can order and replace them with possibly the help of my friend who has owned electric bikes and scooters and worked on them before. He is as baffled as I am with getting this cover to come off. He doesn’t want to damage my bike any more than I want to. Im about to take a hammer to it!!! Lol

Looks like there's a handle to lift the battery uo and out of the bike. There's a key switch on the right side.

Does it rotate to an unlock position to let the battery out?

This was one of the things that was mentioned by another person I had asked here and I have tried this too many times. In every position that the key will turn! I swear it’s almost like the cover is stuck. Im gonna give it another go with some more force behind it and try to slide a thick knife down between the cracks I have gotten apart already and possibly it may pop on loose! Fingers crossed that I don’t ruin my covering! Ooo I will be upset! Thanks for your input and thoughts.

I just saw one ebike battery where the key must be pushed in so that it will turn to the unlock position. See if that is the trick.

Hi, its been a year and I'm sure that the battery situation is over. Where can I buy a key and battery for the same kind of rod. I hope that it will ride over 30mph?!?! And how can I charge it / or is a special charger needed. I would appreciate your help and concerns about this message. I noticed that your photos of the key had specific numbers on the tag. Can I order a key for my bike like yours? Where at, and how much will it cost me to get the bike on the road. Thanks again

And what type of batteries does it take. I open the battery compart how? How fast did you ever make it ride?

This bike was hard to find online. Like a best kept secret!! You can encourage me to put money into the bike. If it will be worth my time and effort. Thanks for your time and help

Apparently, your bike is powered by a small, rear mounted battery. Probably the best way to remove it is to come near it w/ a cat and it will remove itself.
