The controller doesn’t know that you’re pedaling. I don’t know if the CrossCurrent uses a torque sensor like the one on my RipCurrent, check the chain stay on the derailleur side for it. My guess is that it’s either failed, or the cable to it has disconnected.

I’m not sure if cadence sensing is done by the motor (I think it is), but if so it may be that the cable to the motor may need adjustment. Check that too.

The fact that throttle is working limits what can actually be wrong.

Thanks Chaz. I attempted to check all cables (unplugged and re-plugged) associated with the motor i.e. throttle, brake, torque/cadence sensor, motor cable, for damage or loose connection (not with a meter) and found no obvious problem. So I conclude it is a sensor issue. Now, where to get a new sensor since Juiced is gone? If I can't, then the bike is essentially junk and I purchase a new one. I can tell you I will never buy one on-line again particularly one with no local dealers. Only from a reputable local shop that services what they sell and what they sell is from a brand name company that you would expect to be around for at least the life of the bike.

That’s a bummer, ebott. I totally understand where you're coming from. I bought a spare bike (and have been buying some parts too) since Juiced went under so that I could diagnose/fix my problems with my bike. I’ve gotten kind of handy with ebike mechanic basics.

When you spin the wheel with the throttle, are you seeing MPH show up properly on the display? Have you tried (and do you have the ability) to turn off the torque sensor (and go strictly with cadence) using the display settings to see if the pedal works then? I’m not really sure whether the motor or the sensor report cadence.

I don’t know exactly where to direct you. It could be something with the torque sensor, but it could also be a problem with the motor (which reports wheel rotations, I think). It could also be the controller. One thing it doesn’t seem likely to be is the battery.

Thanks again Chaz. Unfortunately I didn't read your reply till recently. I had already removed the sensor, so can't perform your suggestions. However, I had switched to cadence before I removed it, with no luck. I will try to find a new sensor before I give up. Perhaps Electric Bike will eventually be providing Juiced parts, including this sensor? In the mean time, I'm looking at Aventon or Rad bikes. Have a shop near that sale and service them.

@ebott, this might help. I’m not sure what KCLAMBER is as a company, but maybe you can hunt it down. The picture shown by the poster there is a TOSS1, I think.
