UK has a power limit, rear hub 250W bikes especially direct drive are not going to hill-climb.
To climb with 250W you probably need a mid-drive and a lot of low gears.
Direct Drive hubs seem to have fallen out of favor recently. Haven't seen any new bikes introduced with a DD.
My Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra was about US $3000 in Dec 2020. It's been good so far, only 1500 miles though. Climbs like a mountain goat and can hit 35+ mph on the flat.
Like all e-bikes prices have risen substantially, if you can get one shipped to you one of their bikes with the BBSHD (750W) is also a slightly cheaper option.
Just a guess, but thinking there may be a difference in importing what is clearly an illegal bike, and a box of parts. Kind of like importing a fully assembled bomb, or a box of parts that when assembled just right, could function as a bomb?
