Is there a Garmin that works well with the ''ebike field" app?

I have an aging Garmin 810 and am thinking of upgrading to a newer model. I would like a model that works well with the ebike field app.

It appears that the Garmin models that look like *30 have some problems with this app, have there been any recent firmware updates that have fixed the problems?

I use a garmin edge 130 and both the free and premium versions of ebike field work well to show and record assist mode and battery level. I've been using garmin for the last few years to keep a record of my rides so I'll continue to use garmin (in spite of the recent hack attack). I've also installed belvo and I find the data it can display and store for later looking at is much more comprehensive. The drawback being is that it has to run on the phone and I don't think it has a means to do things like garmin connects reports and gear history. I plan to use the Blevo app on interesting rides just because the data and graphs it can provide are great for post ride analysis. The phone display while riding is good and can display more info than the garmin but I generally don't like to ride with a phone mount. Blevo works fine with the screen off and phone in pocket.

My main reason is that I have 11 years worth of rides recorded on Garmin Connect. I also find that the Garmin is easier to read than the TCD/U.

The Garmin will auto upload to Garmin Connect and my rides are also stored in the Garmin until I delete them.

I've been using a garmin as a bike computer before I got my Vado 4.0 SL. The 4.0 does not come with a TCD and I don't see a reason to get one. Like Grayfox I've been using the Garmin to record ride data for several analog bikes over the years as well as the Vado. I like having all the ride data stored and accessible thru the Garmin connect app.

Having said that, I do really like the Blevo app as well. The default screen is easier to read and shows all the data the garmin would plus motor power/guess o meter range left etc. But even if I occasionally use Blevo with the smartphone for a ride, I'll still have the Garmin going to record the data.

What model ebike do you have? According to the ebike field's app page, it's known to work on the Levo, Kenovo, and Creo, but there's nothing about the Vado.

I have a Vado 4.0 SL. Since I already had the garmin it was no risk to try the free version to confirm compatibility. I suspect it should work with the Vado as well but if you don't already have the garmin might be a good idea to find out for sure before springing for one.

I tried it on my Edge 1000 with the Vado this afternoon and can confirm that it works. It's actually not that useful to me since I know what mode I'm in and there's a charge indicator on the display, so I'm not sure if I'll keep it on the Garmin screen.

Agreed that the display on the screen is not terribly useful. I do keep it on my 3rd "housekeeping" screen along with the odomer, garmin battery charge and other info I only occasionally look at. The real benefit to me was the premium version stores the battery percentage and assist level in the garmin connect app. So it automatically records the start and end battery charge levels. Also somewhat useful to see the steeper battery discharge curve at higher assist levels. But Blevo screens far eclipse this and had I known about it before, I probably wouldn't be using the premium version of efield at all.
