Is my chain guard supposed to be attached at the point shown in the picture? If so, how?

Had to change a flat on the back tire of my Ultimate T10+ today. At some point I noticed that the chain guard was not attached where shown (it's the bottom of the chain guard). Did I knock it loose or is it normally not attached there? If it is supposed to be attached, what is the attachment mechanism?

Looks odd to me. All I have is a photo of mine to look at right now as mine is stored in our RV.

Looks like the tab just slides into the slot.
