So I bought a set of Specialized Bennie Platform Pedals with adjustable screws. Then I purchased a pair of Five Ten low impact shoes. The combination of sticky mountain climbing rubber with these pedals creates an unbelievable amount of traction. No feet slipping here.............

I always have this image of slipping off the pedal and those pins gouging my leg

Those pins are vicious especially if you need to walk your bike uphill on a rough track. I had one spot on my commute where I had to go uphill through a stream bed. My shins and calfs were pretty beat up from those pedals Battle Scars , I suppose ....

I have since altered my commute route, adding 3 miles to my one way total and I don't go through the stream very often anymore.
