There are not that many options for S-Pedelecs in Europe:
  • Trek Allant+ 9.9s, 9s (new), 8s (@Alaskan, these do have the Speed motor)
  • Specialized Turbo Vado 6.0
  • Riese & Muller HS models
  • Nikolai (as pointed out by TS25)
  • Stromer (I personally do not like the idea of an exotic hub-drive Direct Drive motor but that's me)
  • Bulls Bikes E-Stream Evo 45 AM (an e-MTB)
  • There is a Cube S-Pedelec (can't remember the model name)
  • There is a Haibike S-Pedelec (can't remember the model name either)
  • What else?
Three of e-bikes mentioned here are of SUV-class while others are more like regular but speed e-bikes. Looks there will be a lot of experimenting for Asagura :)

Let me only suggest to @asagura to not only test ride many e-bikes but also ask the dealer to demonstrate actual smartphone connectivity to given e-bike (yes yes, I'm devil's advocate) :)

P.S. I totally agree: no significant hills in Denmark and not much of off-road. An e-MTB is actually not practical there. Even full suspension seems to be an overkill for CPH :) I found a single climb on my Copenhagen ride and could clear it on a traditional 3 hub-gear bike. Me, with my ill legs... :D

The Rhodies (Rhododendrons, not roadies/road bike riders) around here grow ginormous. Here is another monster Rhody I shot last spring.

Just another thought...Trek Allant+7 - 2020 Dutch ebike of the year. Not as fast or expensive as the 9.9 but a very solid, reliable ebike set up from the factory for commuting and/or trail and gravel.

No, I don't hate Trek. I don't like Bosch :)
Trek do whatever Specialized have already done but they cannot overcome the limitation of the Bosch system (motor noise, poor connectivity).
Did you know that "Allant" was a French word meaning exactly the same as "Vado" in Latin? :)

Well, you determine “limitations” just as I will. You have a process engineer’s attitude (and I worked with many) so I understand your need for connectivity and control. Calling BS without a clue makes you look a bit pathetic and it was Trek (not Bosch) you called out. How valid you view the award to be is up to your research.
I don’t view the lack of connectivity as a limitation as I don’t have the driving need to map everything as some do. I’m just enjoying riding my bike and wanting to know my mileage, as much for maintenance as anything. My Apple watch is only there for my heath monitoring but it tells me a lot more. 😎

Agreed. I can point you to websites where people buy likes and 5 star reviews for x dollars per hundred. It doesn't change anyone's mind. The top tiers in any category are established by now, and people will believe what they want to believe.

Any award granted in the large Germany, the European home of e-bikes? Or, in Denmark, a cycling country where the OP lives? Moreover: The OP can afford Trek Allant+ 9.9S so why he should look at the 7S?
