HELP!! Derestricting the 2019/20 Yamaha Crosscore.

Buy the Civante . 28 mph and zero hassle with the 'speed box's' that claim to allow higher speeds. You'll also get higher quality components through out, including hydraulic brakes. A number of customers who tried the Specialized models, most higher priced, and also Trek, said Yamaha was stronger and faster and more intuitive. They all stated the Yamaha response was much more natural,as though the ebike was a bike that did not in any way inhibit their overall bike experience.

just came across this old thread. I have a cross core which is great for me but have to ask, is the Civante SE motor the same as my CC? and if so why hasn't anybody been able to figure out how to unlock it at least up to Civante 28mph speed? that would be super!

User @nonsensicalnarwhal indicates that SpeedBox 2.0 for Yamaha branded bikes works on the Cross Core according to this thread.

I'm new to all this speedbox stuff and the thread gets to be a little confusing, mentioning different motors, different units and if speedo does/doesn't work. I emailed nonsensical direct and asked about long term results. we'll see if he's still online. thanks all the same, appreciate all your help

Some of the tuners are very specific to the combination of display + motor. Even then, there’s firmware differences between models so that adds another complication. It took a year for SpeedBox to offer an Urban Rush specific tuner after I reported that SpeedBox 2.0 didn’t work for my application.

Cross core has been out for years. Is it the same motor as Civante, if so it should be easy for some tech experts to do it

I do have the Yamaha CIvante and just love it, now have 6700 miles on it. Upgraded drivetrain from Shimano Tiagra to Shimano 105, changed the chain ring from 50 to 52. I have a want to derestrict the 28 mph limit in a big time. I only have 1 leg to pedal with, my right leg is amputated above the knee and is limited to pedal power afforded. I am only riding the group A rides wher speeds average pace is 20 mph. What gets frustrating is when the group hits a speed zone and everyone but me is going up to 31 mph on the sprint zone. I can if I push it really hard can get going to 29 mph but peter out in a short time. If I am lucky the group hits a light and I can catch up.
I have tried 2 options both the Speedbox for Yamaha and forgot the other one, Valspeed or such are unable to destrict. They both throw error codes and shut down power assist. I have had contac t with Speedbox developer and they agree their product is unable to destrict the 28 mph Yamaha PW-SE motor. I have started to look at other brands that offer Class 3 28 mph bikes that have a tuning option to destrict. Any Borsch motor bike is out of the question, their motor programming prevents any way to derestict it. I was even considering a Yamaha bike that is class 1 20 mph with uses the same PW0SE motor that the Speedbox for Yamaha is advertized to be able to destrict.
Other bikes I am looking at are the Specialized or Giant, but need a version that has a 250w motor and 500w battery or offers an extended battery option. I bought a second battery for my Civante and can ride longer group A ride distances and still be able to run in Std or High mode to keep up in the pace line, that is till they are exceeding 28 mph. Sorry for the long winded reply, just frustrated with how they restrict an eboke but a regular boke can easily exceed 28 mph with a strong rider.

Coming back to this thread since it is spot on for my purpose. I just bought a Yamaha Crosscore RC (bought April 2024) and dropped the motor out to check cable fittings. Fittings match to Eplus "Racing speed unlocker" from Ridewill: https://www.ridewill.com/p/en/eplus...r-yamaha-pw-s2-wabash-rt-boostereasy/1555314/

I will install when it arrives and I can post back the experiences of it. In the meanwhile, has anyone done this before? Any experiences for actually derestricting Yamaha Crosscore RC or Wabash e-bike? All comments welcomed!

Seems like I may be the pioneer in this endeavor I have not come across on any topics or discussion where Crosscore or Wabash has been derestricted.

A short update: the speed unlocker I ordered (see link in previous post) does not fit. There is a wrong connector for the speed sensor. Unfortunately Ridewill has two different pictures of the fittings on their web page which I did not notice. Below a picture where on left side is the connectors from their instruction and on the right side what they send:

So I ordered this one and now waiting a week or so to get it.

SOLVED!

I got the Eplus kit and it was easy to install, plug n' play (see pic). Eplus requires and app to be purchased (0,99€) to enable speed unlimiter. I did this and it works perfectly. In practice the max continuous speed is app. 35km/h due the gear ratio. But I'm satisfied with this speed and loooking forward get some mileages for the bike!

A few years back, I wanted to derestrict my Haibike Full FatSix's PW motor. I contacted Katerina at PearTune and she instantly responded back with my questions answered. After installing it, whenever I want that extra boost in speed to outrace an approaching thunderstorm, it's just a push button away on the controller. I'd recommend PearTune to anyone.
