Help choosing - for heavier rider?

Hi there!

I'm currently looking to get fully into the ebike world and am seeking suggestions on finding this.. unicorn

Caveat:
I'm a larger guy at about 330lbs (and dropping!), which narrows down the available bikes quite a bit.

Main uses: Commuting a few miles each day and weekend treks on roads and bike paths. It would be nice (but not required) if the bike could also handle very minor offroad trails (hard packed dirt types with some minor hills, nothing major, but definitely rougher than a road.)

A few features I am after:
Comfortable riding posture (preferably no full on mountain bikes with the handlebars fairly far forward - slightly more upright riding would be ideal)
Good range (I'd like to be able to take weekend treks of 30+ miles, well assistant by the motor, willing to pay for larger battery but has to be available)
Hill climbing (decent torque to move my fat ass - mid drive motor to take advantage of gearing, or geared hub motor)
Throttle (Very ideal, but could be negotiated for the right bike)
Rear rack or similar available (something that can hold work stuff/change of clothes)
Low maintenance (I would rather spend my weekends out riding rather than working on the bike whenever possible, not looking for a tinkerer bike)

I've found only a couple options that fit all or most of these. Pedego Stretch, a couple Day 6 bikes, BikTrix Juggernaut HD/Stunner-X. But I assume there's some I've missed!

Happy to hear any suggestions! No real price range, probably not going to go for an $8000 Riese & Müller :)

Thanks for your time!

The Biktrix Juggernaut HD looks good value for your needs. A similar looking, similarly priced, bike using Bafang mid drive motors from a brand called Rambo claims a load rating of 300lb vs the Juggernauts 400lb, larger carrying capacity and you’re going to be looking at cargo bikes, trikes, or atv’s

xtracycle edgerunner has a total weight limit of 400 lb. The site has reviewed it. It has a steel frame. Posture is upright.
surlybikes.com has steel frames. THey brag about how heavy duty their products are. The headliner is a forward posture bike, however.
You'll want 2.0"x26" tires at least to go off pavement. Taller people can use 27" or 700 mm tires. 2" is 52 mm if they measure that way.
My bike left has rider limit of 200, sorry. also special frame for small people. I e-converted it for $820, but if doing it again I would go to $1200 and buy the entire kit including MAC hubmotor wheel from lunacycle. The cargo bikes often have front basket mounts in the frame, which makes it convenient to hang the battery off the front. That balances my bike better since I carry 60 lb cargo in the bags frequently. The aluminum battery frame was built by me with a drill and a hacksaw.
Note range is generally watthours/15. Battery watthours is nominal voltage (36 or 48) X amphours.

Thanks for the suggestions so far on this one!

Right now I'm still kind of torn between the Biktrix Juggernaut HD and Stunner-X, the Pedego Interceptor Platinum or Stretch, and the E-Lux Tahoe Sport.

Might be time to do some test rides!

So just a followup on this - I ended up with the E-Lux Tahoe Sport.

I've had it for a couple weeks now and it is an amazing bike. It's absolutely HUGE though, and heavy, so avoid if you need to carry it up stairs :) Or if you are short (though I think they have their step through model available now). But otherwise it is great. Fantastic power (Even for a large guy), very comfortable (front suspension and seat post) and good range so far. I'll probably post a review somewhere after I've had it a little longer.

Congrats on your ebike. I googled an image and it looks fantastic. Many fantastic miles to you.
