I own three e bikes. Two Lectric's and one Ariel class X bike. My girls and I ride them around home here in the country and on the Katy Trail which is an abandoned train line that is maintained for bike riding. It crosses the state almost from end to end. We most recently rode a 30 mile loop of it. The trail is flat and between the Missouri river and beautiful bluffs with many times only a 30 ft. area between the two. Much of the trial is covered by shade from large trees that tower over the trail. The Lectric bikes and the Ariel bike are totally different rides, maybe not better or worse but different. The Lectrics have the feeling of a motorized bike and the Ariel has a more scooter feel to it. Both bikes can be set up from class two. The Lectric's max at about 28 mph and the Ariel at 31. On the trial we averaged 6.2 mph on the last trip, which was the perfect speed to enjoy the views.

Welcome the the site. I like 8-9 mph too. With the winds these days, sometimes it takes 100 electric watts to maintain that speed.
I've been meaning to do the Katy trail, but my brother talks about bikes but never takes time off work. The wife biked with me before marriage, but not after. I drove the Katy in MO before they pulled the tracks up in '83. Nice river. I lived 2 blocks from the MKT in Houston 1956-1973. Funny old railroad.

It is good to hear from another Missourian. We faced a strong head wind coming back toward Jefferson city. Along the river against the bluff it really gets windy. On level Katy Trail averaging about 6 mph, pulling my 215 weight my Lectric 2.0 ran exactly 30 miles on a charge. I did not peddle a lot so 80 or 90 percent on battery. I was riding with two Super 73's which were both showing a quarter left but were carrying 55 lb lighter riders.
