Good new and bad news...

I am a little excited now but a little bummed too. So I just went to my local bike shop to order mine and my wife's Turbo's and come to find out they can't find a Turbo S for me in a large frame anywhere. They said they won't stop looking until they find one. But on the bright side, I got my wife's base Turbo ordered and having them swap the tires with some Marathon Plus tires. My wife was a little scared of riding with the slicks that come on it. They only charged me $10 a tire to swap them out.
So anyway, at least I can get her riding again hopefully by the weekend and just hope they find a large Turbo S for me soon.
Getting closer to riding that thing..... :)

That's one of the challenges when a manufacturer offers multiple frame sizes; they aren't always in stock :(. What does your LBS say as to why Specialized doesn't have any of the frame size you need? Glad you were able to get your wife up and riding again; we're real fans in Texas of those Schwalbe tires on ebikes- they ride nice and are less prone to flats, just get some tire liners in there too to make them bullet proof! Load some pics of your ebikes when you have a moment.

They told me that they are just not mass producing these things yet so they are hard to find even at other stores in California. And they are the only ones that sell these ebikes in San Diego. They are going to look elsewhere out of state so hopefully they can find one fast.

John,

Specialized keeps inventory in a west coast and east coast warehouse. They should not be checking other stores for the 2016 Turbo S, but just the Specialized Factory inventory. This can be done through the dealer system. It may well be that the new Turbo S is still on a boat from Taiwan (literally). If I get in to my dealer, I can have them check Turbo S distribution inventory.

Thanks, this is a pretty big specialized dealer in San Diego so I am sure they have checked the warehouses but have been coming up empty. They have to find one somewhere though. I will just be patient and wait it out.

Well just talked to my dealer and he said there isn't a large frame anywhere in the country and Specialized told him it might not be until March before they can get one. I mean really? If they are selling that fast, Specialized needs to ramp up production.

John. The Turbo S is a brand new model for the 2016 model year. The base Turbo is a carryover from 2015. In fact, my 2016 was manufactured in Nov. 2014 and is actually a 2015 model year bike. Thus, the reason they have base Turbos is because they were already in stock from 2015. I expect that the "batch manufacturing" process they use in Taiwan to build these means that Specialized didn't schedule the volume 2016 production of the new models into US inventory until early Spring when weather gets better. Good luck.

Well I just hope I can hold out until the spring. My wife's base Turbo will be ready this weekend and she is upset now that she won't be able to ride with me. I really want the S but if I can't hold out I might have to get the X at some point. I will hold out through next month though and see if one comes available
