Giant SyncDrive Pro 2021 motor on LIV Vall PRO 2021, X or X-2 hardware ?

Hi,
I discovered this forum recently and I love it. Thanks for great content :)
I recently bought eMTB for my wife, the LIV Vall-e + PRO 2021 model. I'm currently assembling and I'm a little disappointed with the weight of the bike. Due to the higher weight, I now doubted which model of the Giant SyncDrive Pro motor, LIV use in 2021 bikes. Is that Yamaha X or X-2 model? We want to use bike as hybrid, with 29 road tires during the week and 27.5 tires for the weekend, so it is very important to me that it really is an X-2 motor (170 rpm maximum cadence and more Power at 120 rpm). How do I exactly identify the engine type?
Thanks in advance
Tomaž

Welcome to the Forums, Tomaž! If your wife's LIV has the AUTO mode, and rides well at high cadence (try to spin at 100 rpm in low gear and see if the bike accelerates as a rocket; try it uphill!), it must be Yamaha PW-X2 motor. My Giant Trance E+ Pro (2020) already has that motor.

Hard winter in Slovenia now? We're getting snowing in Poland right now.

I'm a little disappointed with the weight of the bike.
Too heavy? 23.5 kg heavy as for e-MTB? No way. Normal weight.

Hi, thanks,
not sure yet about AUTO mode. I have 5 leds on Ride control One, and 5 power modes in app ?? (I flew through the instructions (to) quickly ..).
I will try cadence test tomorrow.
I ride a 13,5 kg Specialized MTB bike (at 120+ cadence :) ) with comparable equipment. If I add 3kg (3.6?) for the motor, 4kg for the battery and 2kg for more robust frame that’s + 9kg ... that would be 22.5kg ... A year ago I drove a Scott and Bergamo HT with a Bosch 2019 engine, both 24kg (2019 models). Our M size Liv is 24kg, in 2021, that's lot for me.
We live in a small flat part, there is no real winter here, no snow :(, but in the mountains it's great.

Regarding Smart Assist (AUTO), you activate it by pressing either Up or Down button on the RideControl ONE for 3 seconds. It is not an economical ride mode but very pleasant.

I understand your experience with the Stumpjumper or whatever you own :) Please understand that 24 kg is a normal weight of a "full power" e-MTB (my Giant Trance E+ size M weighs the same, having full suspension. FOX suspension has been used to reduce weight, and the bike has 27.5" not 29" wheels). If you wanted a lightweight e-MTB, that would be Specialized Turbo Levo SL (at the cost of far less powerful motor and small battery) or new Orbea Rise (very expensive and hard to buy). Bear in mind, the Valle E+ has a powerful motor that will offset the bike weight many times :) And 625 Wh battery is just a dream :)

Ah, Slovenia, the mountain country... And the gorgeous Liv Valle E+! (The colour is same as of my Giant).

2solar, I know Giant’s E+Pro uses the new PW-X2 motor. I hope yours does too.

yes thanks to both,
it took a while to test ride; snow :). No real cadence test yet, but AUTO mode is working.
I did short ride today and i notices that I can't get over 20km/h with motor support. After some browsing I found this post
Did it by that and solve the problem.
So bike is ok; still a bit surprised of full weight for hardtail bike ...but my wife is happy with it. So next step is tuning; After cadence test :)

yes, I agree with snow rides, wonderful adventures.

derestriction :), my wife is complaining that bike is too slow.
I continue in the dedicated topic:

refresh on Giant SyncDrive Pro 2021 motor: It's not Love on first sight....
Did some climb test on road tires, paved road 24%, 500hm. My wife on LIV Vall PR0 2021, me behind on Specialised (non electric bike). Riding very close, practically on the back cassette and staring down ( I usually look very motivated forward when my wife is on front  ...sorry I can't help myself not telling 😇) and listening (get back to topic please) to the motor. I don't get it; it should be quieter ...At low cadence not so obviously, but at higher quite high pitch sound ascending with load. I can hear it. What the hell is wrong with this motor ? .....or test method.

How the motor ? I asked on top of the hill. She answered : "great, pulls like very punchy power horse, very quiet..."

OK, something must be wrong with my test method...low speed, practically no tire and wind sound...to picky ? lets switch...let me ride it.
Okey, feels much better now, sound kinda not getting to me so loud, accelerated breathing , a little more pressure and more sound from tyres. Feeling better...
One more test, week later: lets try high cadence test on derestricted bike. Hitting 60km/h that's over 130 rpm on motor. Still pulling hard :), can't ride faster...it's to cold....
OK, I can live with that :), my wife love it ....Still room for improvements, but It's great Y20 high cadence motor.

It is not the quietest motor, still not the loudest. Still, feel lucky it's not the Bosch CX :D (If you look for a silent motor, these on Specialized Turbo Vado and Como are virtually silent).
