Giant Stormguard

Bike store still has one new marked down and got to ride it today. See Yamaha is not bringing any more ebikes into the country. That was one nice bike. The rear suspension was to die for. All the components were top end. All I can do not to spend $5k on another bike. Not much discussion on this or other forums about it.

Anyone liking theirs or everyone too ashamed to say they own one:)

Wow. Why would anyone be ashamed to own one of those? :)

Looks like a really nice bike, Marcela. Giant is a winner, as I watch @RabH continue to put amazing mileage on his road bike.

Do you know why Yamaha is stopping shipment? Your post was the first I’d read about that.

The fact that the rear rack hangs off the seat tube and is not on the rear suspension is a major plus.
That was one of the first mods I did to my bike and it was a big improvement in suspension/ride feel
Go for it

It's in the Giant subforum. Somebody speculated the chinese competition and the taste of the american people for their flavor.

The bike I rode even had a dropper post, first in my experience. Nice, but not needed. The pedals were top notch also, very nice stuff.

Far as I know it's only their range of Yamaha ebikes, not the motors on other brands like Giant and Haibike. They recently brought out a new version of the PW range, the PW X4 I think. Been well reviewed. As to why they stopped importing their own bikes to US, not sure except that outside of Japan they are mostly sold through Yamaha Motorbike dealers not bike shops and don't seem to put a lot of marketing muscle behind them. Not sure why. Here in UK impossible to find one outside a tiny number of Yamaha motorbike dealers.

I always thought it was weird to go into a motorcycle dealer and see ebikes. Lot of variation between countries.

The bike had a bracket over the top bar to hold two water bottles, one each side. Pretty slick. Had to ask what it was.

I mean I can see the cost savings, they already have dealerships everywhere, but how on Earth are people supposed to know they sell e-bikes in there? The Yamaha fan might know, but not the casual buyer who'd never think of walking into a motorbike shop. I tried it in a local Yamaha shop. They looked at me as if I'd 2 heads! Had heard nothing about e-bikes. Online there are a few who sold e-bikes but situated near London.

Interesting stuff, guys.

Oh, sorry, I’m confused. Is the Giant Stormguard a Yamaha bike rebranded, Marcela?

In any case, I was just trying to say that Stormguard is a nice bike!

No you are not confused, I am. I was looking for yamaha motor info and came up on this thread and transposed it to the giant ebike. Anyway, I am sure someone will come along and straighten out the whole thing:)

The Giant Stormguard had a steering damper integrated into the head set. Never experienced that before either. Quite different from a regular bike.

I have a Giant Stance E+2 so am familiar with the Yamaha drive system.
Last year I was taking a water break at one of my local trails and I saw a Stormguard fly by. Really loved the look of the bike. Mine's kind of decked out SUV style but that Stormguard is all in.
Great looking bike, and the drive system is awesome!
