Giant FastRoad EX E+ 2020 Computer Issues

Bought myself and the wife a FastRoad 2020 (Well, for her it's technically the Liv Thrive... but same bike)

Since we bought it, we have found there to be constant issues with the ant+/bt module and causing issues with reporting to our karoo and wahoo elemnt roam. Whenever we pair, it seems to crash the computer. Myself and a friend at the bike shop tested this pretty extensively, and we cannot find any way for this bike to work with an aftermarket computer "natively". You can of course add a traditional sensor yourself, but... that just seems like a huge waste.

Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and knows of a workaround or anything. Would be nice to actually enjoy the bike completely without having it incompatible with any computer (Phones do seem to have 'some' issues but not as many, surprisingly -- it will pair, get the data, etc.... but it can be sporadic about connection).

Any thoughts?

You should contact Giant directly. Probably a bug in the firmware that can be resolved with a software patch (I hope!).

Keep us informed! I'm particularly interested by this bike.

Did the issue get resolved? How do you like the bike in general? I had a 2019 Quick-e that was stolen over the weekend. I loved that bike, and this is the successor, although it has a smaller battery. Do you and your wife recommend the bike?

Ok, so at this point, I have actually put a decent number of miles on it..

I love that it is a good gravel bike, comes with mudflaps, built in rack, built in lights, tuneable motor settings (I have actually tuned all 5 of the levels down to the minimum possible), and even has nice wide tires... Overall, its a pretty decent bike. I do hate that the battery is overly small, would have preferred a 500wh.

On the tech side though, I do remain very disappointed. It's integration with any computer is only partially complete. When wahoo announced their new support for Giant and Specialized ebikes, I was super excited figuring I would be able to finally support the bike properly. Nope. I got tired of not having cadence data and wound up getting a wahoo cadence sensor and using that on the bike so that I could get all of the stats. The bike still only supports 'bluetooth', even though it was supposed to be bt/ant+ and the bt was supposed to be intended for factory / lbs maintenance. As far as we have ever been able to tell, it has never supported ant+ to begin with, though getting feedback from giant is near impossible.

Am I overall happy with it? Yeah. Now that I have another good solid road bike though, my riding on it is limited to longer rides that I can't quite handle (yet). I bought the bike to get back into riding regularly, and it definitely helped.
