getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

foofer, I hope you take some pix and post them as you do the build. I’d really like to live vicariously through you on that. :)

Plus I can use any size tire. Trying to find something used is tricky unless your getting all your parts after. found a double crank in the right size I was not sure if I could most dont go down that low.
I dont need a triple. 20.00 less than normal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/306575703942 now I need to find the front shifter for this setup. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164445556176?var=464058594819
I have those shifters on my Disc Trucker. I bought them a long time ago though, so I don't remember where I got them. There was also an I-Spec adapter for them for the brake handles IIRC. I have the TRP Quadiem G-Spec brakes on the bike. I am on my work computer at the moment. I can check on my personal laptop later.

DEORE XT FRONT DERAILLEUR SIDE SWING (CLAMP BAND MOUNT ) 2X12s
its got the right clamp but does not say bottom pull. but its for the size of chainrings I have.

I just looked up the M8100 and it only has a 10T capacity, so that wouldn't work with my crankset. MTA: It should work with your crankset though.

Here is the installation instructions for the M8100. It looks like you run the cable housing directly to it. It is not a bottom pull. https://si.shimano.com/en/pdfs/dm/MAFD001/DM-MAFD001-03-ENG.pdf

You could probably make it work, but it wouldn't fit the cable routing on the frame. I would get a road derailleur with a bottom pull. Mine is working with my XTR shifters.

wehn I get the headset accidently ordered it from Taiwan on ebay so it iwll be a bit I will take it to trek and have them install it and cut the fork.

Well, just get the cable housing clamps and run the cable housing on the top of the downtube to the front derailleur. You can make the M8100 work. You don't have to use the braze-on cable guides. I cut the steerer tube myself with an inexpensive pipe cutter. It's good to wait to cut it until you know how high you want to mount the stem.

I think this is the headset press I have. Half the price of the Park tool, but works fine and I don't need it too often. https://www.jensonusa.com/foundatio...MI_7Or7KiekgMVES9ECB2QdRMAEAQYASABEgKUavD_BwE

ya but that cost would be about the same as having it done and its not something I would do again. I did make a tool once to put the star nut in. I will have it cut with all the spacers since I won't know what I need till I hop on. crap I thought my front dt swiss up could convert from qr to 12mm through, but it does not do that. it looks like it has to be bought with through or qr. I have my spare tandem wheel, but it wont go tubeless.

all the hills are short one block. portland isn ot flat anywhere. I can have a 3% grade on one block and two blocks over its flat. I have a allant 8 with a Gen 4 motor. The bike has 20k on it. Yes its hard to know how long the battery will go. my first 500 battery died after about 520 cycles. it was letting us go 15 to 20 miles on our tandem when it died in the middle of the ride with 48% left so you never know. the bike is a dog with 42t chainring and 11-34 cassette. the 2" tires or soemthing makes it so sluggish compared to my first bosch powered bike. with all the rain and my miles, I am worried a new battery may outlast the motor.
That battery dying at 48% is brutal—no wonder you're hesitant to buy another one. 20k miles is a massive achievement though. Do you feel like the motor is starting to sound rough, or is it just the high mileage making you nervous? Either way, that 42t chainring is definitely your enemy on those Portland blocks. A light analog bike with a proper 1x setup would probably feel like a rocket compared to what you're pedaling now.

no the motor feels good but with all the rain I ride in can cause issues. Best case I will have a backup bike and a new battery. but it may be time to just have a e tandem and the trek for casual use.

Did you get rid of the old Bulls?
no thats my doner bike. thats where all the parts are coming from. well all that work but almost all of them do. the front wheel wont. I thought I could change the endcaps on the dt swiss hub but nope. took the performance speed moto out of it and put it in the tandem after it had issues. we have gotten that sucker to 27 its a crazy ride. I wanted to try the bulls with a tubeless setup see if it was a less harsh ride but never wanted to go to the effort.
