After being almost blinded by a TAZ 1200 headlight from Light and Motion I decided to purchase their VIS180 tail light. OMG is it bright. Shops around me love L&M because they manufacture just down the road from us.

Great Products........................

Yeah 86 and still kicking, not only are their lights bright, but their customer service just rocked my world. I bought the same tail light as you did: the Light and Motion Vis 180 and their cool Urban 800 head light.
I was playing with the tail light the other night and like a knucklehead, I tore the rubber cover off the switch, thinking I was trying to open the battery cover (wrong side, doh). It was a clear case of user damage, and I admitted as much in my email to them. To square it away, they told me to simply order a replacement light for free (they gave me a code). No questions asked; just send the injured one back to them within a couple of weeks.
In my estimation, these folks really know how to do customer service. Oh, and their lights kick ass too! Bright, rugged, waterproof, and well thought out. Buying from them is as satisfying as buying from Apple.
The only difference in my experience is that their stuff is made right here in the USA. In case you all haven't noticed, not much stuff is anymore, including Apple's of course. They build almost everything in China.
Light and Motion have just gained a customer for life here; too bad I am as old as dirt. (These lights will almost certainly last longer than I will.)

Funny, I too ripped the power cover off the tail light thinking it was the USB cover. I spent about 30 minutes and got if back in place.....PIA. I have a Topeak rear rack and ordered the additional bracket attachment to mount the light on the rack. I was totally confused as to how it worked so I call L&M. They pulled one from stock and spent about 10 minutes figuring it out themselves. They were most gracious and like you told me to call them with any problems or issues.
