i'm 55yrs old and haven't done much riding in the last few years (15+) and after a recent back injury i thought i'd get some fitness back by bike riding.
so i'm renting a slightly used 2020 Giant EXPLORE E+ 1 for a couple of months (with the option to buy) to have a play on and see if i like the dark side of biking.
the bike is like "new", app shows only 690km travelled and 6 battery cycles have been done.
the only bad thing is it's a 'medium' frame and the "boys" are very close to the top bar if i was to hop off quickly...... i think i'd be better with a 'small' frame size.
at the moment there's not a lot of good branded ebikes around, and this one took quite a while to find, shops advertising all over the country, but no stock to be found.

after re-assembly of the handle bars and front wheel from transport, i went for a 11km shake down ride, not bad at all.
mostly flat with a couple of small rises towards the beach, i found i was comfortably sitting on around 26km/hr, just above the motor cutout of 25km.
had a close call going around a corner, i started to peddle after coasting up to the corner and then the motor cut in and i was accelerating a bit quick.....

Welcome to the site. I don't know how you got the title to do that to "downunder". Ha.
I hated how the PAS in level 1 cut on and accelerated too hard to too fast a speed, 11 mph. The bike also whacked me in the back of the standing leg with the pedal as i was cranking the pedal backwards to start up. I disconnected the PAS pickup and use throttle only, now.

unfortunately here in Oz, we don't have a "throttle" with our max 250W rules.
the homemade bikes sometimes do, but they also have more than 250W (usually 500-1000W)

as for the title text, i just use an upsidedown converter.

Welcome! Fellow Explore rider here, also downunder. I really like my bike. It's a good performer and trouble free (touch wood). Which is just as well, options are a lot slimmer round these parts than in the US. I'm tall at the upper end of the large frame sizing so all safe with the "boys".
