First warm and nice weather day with my new Trek Allant 8s

Finally had some decent spring like weather today here where I am and took my new Trek out for the first extended ride.

It’s an amazing bike and so well built. Very nimble especially at higher speeds which is where it counts and quite torquey at speeds above 30kph. As a light rider I was reaching 45-46kph in sport mode completely flat ground. Haven’t even tried turbo setting yet. Bosch has done a fantastic job with their new gen 4 motors.

Mods I added were ofcourse the Kinekt seat post with the purple springs which are designated for my weight category , ortlieb 25litr panniers and Schwalbe’s new Hurricane tyres which I found out about via EBR.


All in all I’m very happy with my purchase the only thing I will probably add in a month or so is the second battery pack trek offers with its rail design. It will ugly up the bike as others have posted pics of theirs but it’s a necessary evil to have great range imo.

That's one fine looking bike, and Trek makes great products.

It is almost too bad that most of the newest bikes have gone with such an invisible look, and the batteries are so long that a second one won't fit in most pannier bags. It is nice to have the additional main battery capacity the new bikes are getting but I guess there is still something to be said for the old Bosch PowerPack 500's where you can have one mounted and one or two in the bags for the longer range rides.

But then again, having even one PowerPack mounted on the frame probably uglies up the frame as much as mounting your second Trek pack! Pick your poison I guess.

Very nice bike. You will have a ball. My wife and i have had Trek SuperCommuter 8+'s, and I now have an Allant 9.9S (my SuperCommuter was stolen). TBH we have never really felt we need another battery pack. Totally based on your ride distance, what you are using the bike to accomplish (like commuting 25+ miles each way with no possibility to recharge). We often ride 50+ miles with one battery. So before you ugly up the bike, and spend a bunch of cash, make sure you need one. No matter what, a mile on the Allant is one less mile in a car.

I just took my new 8s out this weekend. It's the first time on an eBike and I love it. I live in NH and it is hilly here. Luckily about half of my commute will be on a rail trail. I'm planning to travel 40 miles round trip to work this spring, summer and fall. I turned 60 a while ago (I know. My avatar looks like I'm 40. I got to update that thing.). The eBike brings a lot of fun back into biking.
Do you find the Kinekt seat post worth it? I see they're $250 on Amazon. I've got no idea if they have purple springs like yours. I'm wondering if they're worth spending the extra $$$.
Around here, many of the roads are rough, and the rail trail is all hard pack. Is there a substantial difference between the stock post and the Kinekt?

The Kinekt seat post for me has definetly been a back saver and isolates you from the jarring effects of rough surfaces. I would recommend purchasing directly from Cirrus instead of Amazon. I'll include the link. I also purchased spares and full re-build kit, it's all up on their website and very organized.

I also swapped out the stock Bontrager tires with the Schwalbe Hurricane tires and have them inflated to 25 psi front/rear, together with the Kinekt seat post my Allant8s is smooth and swift.
