First custom build help please

Hi everyone!

I'm really new here and wasn't really sure where to post this or where to start.

I recently acquired a Subrosa malum the chrome plated 26 inch.

was wondering how I could go about converting it to electric or wither or not it's worth the trouble?

I was at first thinking in running a Astro 3220 type setup but figure that's overpowered for this type of bike.

Maybe I'll just run a high powered wheel hub? Some ideas would be extremely helpful I plan on switching out the tires and doing some customized work to the bike anyways.

Thanks!

That subrosa is a trick. 25:11 sprockets, single speed. Do you always ride downhill? I like keeping up with the cars out of the red lights. I installed a 2 speed coaster hub with low gear in 1962 when it cost 80 hours pay. Up with the cars at least the first 20 feet.
Subrosa has no suspension. It has rim brakes that don't work in the rain. Putting on a 50 mph capable motor would definitely be risky. Some question as to whether you could stay in the saddle at that speed. Bumps or potholes might throw you off.
I have a 1200 W 48 v geared front hub and love it. Of course I usually ride 8-10 mph. No suspension, but I do have disk brakes that do work in the rain. More power would get you more speed, but shorten the distance you could ride. I use 2/3 of a 17 AH 48 v battery in 30 miles of hills. Sometimes 3/4. If your area is flat you would prefer a DD motor for higher speeds. I had a $189 one, but it used about 130% of the electricity of the geared hub motor on the hills. Also drug badly when I pedaled, which is most of the time on the flats. Hub motors are not difficult to install, but I did have to grind out the slot on one bike frame to fit the axle, and narrow the axle flange for another aluminum frame that would not spread. A coupla mounts for the controller, maybe one for the battery, there you go. Unless you're in a megacity with a motorcycle shop bigger than ours, you can't buy the second 14 mm x 1.75 nuts to lock the axle in, so after a few stops to re-tighten the axle, I made some nuts with a tap I bought from victornet.com
Happy shopping and then riding.

Thanks for the reply yea I know it would be kind of rough because lack of suspension. But suspension seat may help a little I was also thinking about flipping out the fork if needed.

I suppose you are right about the disk breaks I don't believe I could install them on this bike...hmm

Maybe a Montague..
