Fat Franks vs Big Bens vs Big Apple Balloon Tires?

City Commuter

I'm looking at new tires for my 28" City Commuter, a nice ride is most important to me. Has anyone tried other balloons besides Fat Franks? I'm also wondering about size, will a 29" fit a 28" bike? Looks like it would be close.

The Fat Franks sure work well on my wife's City Commuter. She says it's a very comfortable ride, on the road or off. It's not a knobby mountain bike tire, but for grass, sand, or gravel, it does very well. Hope this helps some. Can't compare to the others you mentioned.

I have no feedback on the tires but I certainly love reading the creative names the mfgrs come up with.

Fat Frank tires are made for regular beach cruiser style bikes and offer very average puncture protection.

Big Ben plus (note plus!) and Big Apple Plus are made for ebike applications with 3mm green guard protection layer.
Big Ben Plus also offers long service life upwards of 5000 miles.

These are smooth, and they handle nice. :)
