Fastest/strongest bike under $2000???

Hello friends,

I just bought an Ecotric with a 500w motor for around $810. I have two teenage sons, so it works great for them. I am now looking for an ebike for myself. I weigh about 230lbs. I am looking for the best bike that will take me up decent size hills without having to pedal (if I don't want to.) I'm also looking for something that can go 25-35 with pedaling. What e-bike would you recommend for this?

You have a taste for caviar, but a beer budget. I may be wrong, but I do not think such a bike exists, at least one that comes out of a factory for under $2K.

Quick question for you...

Someone close to me is selling the following converted bike for under $1000:
Frame: Schwinn Capital (that's what it looks like at least)
Motor: 1500w Voilamart
Battery: 48v 1000watt
*they say it does 33 mph.

Is this a good bike for the money?

That would really depend on the condition and what kind of components were used.

For example, the battery.. 48V, 1000Wh is approx. 21Ah.

The 48V 21Ah battery won't be cheap. But who built it? What cells were used?
Just by watching YouTube and reading EBR forum, I found that people are more comfortable with batteries built by companies like Grin Technologies or EM3EV.
But if it was built by some random guy doing his DIY project, I'd be more careful.

the most powerful bike i know of under 2000 is the Ariel Rider D-Class
it has 2 motors and will do 30 easy. second is the Ariel Rider X-Class, site says it will do 35.

Just checked the site looks like they are sold out of the base model D-Class, it had only a 14ah battery and no suspension,its possible they stopped making them,not sure

I wish I could deliver it sooner but I need time for tweaking the controller + torque sensor and make sure everything is fully battle tested. So, my bikes won't be ready until September.
I have truly amazing prototypes in design and production right now. It takes a lot of work to get all the small details right and deliver the performance.
Having said that, if I were to pick a sub $2K bike, I would go with

The only thing that I don't like is that scrambler bikes look too much like a motorcycle
I know many people like the looks and comfort, but I personally don't like attracting too much attention.

Wow that X-Class is quite nice! It looks like a nice upgrade from my Lectric XP. The scrambler/moped/motorcycle style l would likely get more attention than my current bike but the specs are a heck of a deal. My XP gets enough attention as it is.

My only concern would be from the non-adjustable height saddle and attaching my small trailer I use to haul groceries. Otherwise looks like a great ebike I'd consider upgrading to!

I'll second the idea that problems might occur w/ a bike that looks too much like a scooter or smallish motorcycle. The X Class is a heck of a good performer and I like it's looks and price, but it gives up too much in the stealth factor. That sure looks like Florida in the youtube video. Flat as a pancake, and smooth roads and sidewalks (legally OK to ride a bike on sidewalks anywhere in the state unless local ordinances preclude that).

I'll just throw this out here just because: Many years ago I was a motorcycle rider and dropped a few of them, one at high speeds. Luckily I walked away from the spills, but now, at 68, when I get on the throttle of my eBike and do 20 MPH I remember what it's like to hit hard concrete or asphalt. Some friends my age and older ended up dying from complications related to hip breakages. In these pandemic times, it's probably not good to be going too fast on lightweight bikes that have nominal brakes and questionable stability (compared to a motorcycle) at anything much over 20 MPH

It's meant to be more like a motorcycle than a bicycle.
Everyone knows bent knee isn't the greatest for cycling.

Have you ever seen Honda CT70 or even CT125?
Other similar ones are Honda Monkey and Honda Grom.

You sit on it, with bent knees, just like those scrablmer ebikes.
I know a lot of motorcycle will let you bend the knees, but I found the posture very similar to Honda CT series.

Very good points. It's definitely not a cycling ebike but more for riding.

I'd get the X-Class for pure fun riding to complement my XP grocery hauler. I definitely need to make it happen!

I am not sure if I understood.. most trailers will attach on rear axle of the bike.. I don't know how that would interfere against your seat?
