Perhaps this is old news to some - but I found what I thought was a neat little gimmick in my new Explore E+ 1.
The plastic fenders have conductors (look like foil) molded right into the plastic as a sandwich construction. I can imagine that this might increase the stiffness of the fender - but it also results in a neat, clean way to route power to a rear light on the fender.
The wires from the motor/controller are attached to the fender right behind the motor :

And then the wires from the light are attached to the fender right at near the light :

I thought this was a pretty neat little gimmick to reduce wiring clutter !
