Evelo Dash information

Great feedback! can you tell me the bell name you found? There are so many and I'd like to go with a proven one. Thanks

I bought this one. It's not bad but I wish it had a cleaner sound but what do you expect from a $13 bell with a rechargeable battery? I went with this because it has a small footprint and I didn't know if a bigger real bronze bell would fit. It has like 4 or 5 different sounds and I like the horn one but it's really loud especially indoors lol. It clips on super easily with a rubber clip and you stretch it to fit around whatever size you need. Then it has a separate attachment where you play the sound and can choose different sounds.

I just think most folders are not designed for what we want, they are short/last mile bikes and nobody designs them different
The smaller battery in the frame would also be more of an issue with the bigger motor but I would be happy buying a second one

is the aurora also a dapu mid drive? On some or all? of the shimano you can change out to the bigger motor, the bolt ups are the same
I wonder if that would be possible on the dash

please tell evelo all of this because if they made another option with the bigger motor and a 5 speed I would buy it right away

cannot wait to hear what you think of the sinch and the aurora
You're absolutely right. I don't know much about EVELO's other bikes but I know the Aurora comes in a regular and Limited version with the Limited having a full Enviolo CVT transmission with an automatic and manual mode and a Dapu 750W (1,000W peak) Mid-Drive Motor w/ 105N.m. Torque. I've been in constant contact with their sales reps and let them know how I feel about the bike and all of that so they definitely appreciate the feedback. I pulled the trigger on the Aurora Limited since again, even if it doesn't work for me they still have the 21 day trial so I'll see if I get what I wanted out of this 750w motor. The only thing I don't love is the look of the rear rack since it's not a standard layout but I think the rack has more to do with adding stability to the frame and it's added benefit is cargo. I LOVE the overall design of the bike though with the step through and all the bells and whistles. The one thing I forgot to mention about the Dash was the lack of a suspension so there were some little potholes I hit which where a bit rough on these NY roads since the Winters rage war against them. On the Aurora they have a nice front suspension and I also added the Thudbuster seatpost and a comfort Cloud 9 saddle which I've used before on my regular bike and enjoyed. If it's not gonna fold then i'll crank comfort up to 10.

This thing is SEXY though! I guess I'll eventually have a review up in the Aurora thread but it's gonna be a bit. They are backordered and shipping in September. I think after this shipment of bikes they will be sold out until the Holidays (or so I'm told). They seem to have no issue selling these things that's for sure. I'm gonna go take a little night ride on the Dash around my neighborhood. I'm so close to just saying F it and keeping both lol. I swear if they said they'll add a 500w motor to it I would keep it. This thing is so close to perfection but the one thing it's short on is what's most important to me about an electric bike.

I get it! If only we all had unlimited funds and storage space!
The auroras are really pretty bikes, cannot wait to hear how it you like the motor

Just came back from a nice ride on my Dash. It's killing me but every time I ride it I enjoy it more and more despite it's lack of hill/throttle power. It might just win me over in the end.

I told them I'd like to keep the Dash and had them cancel the Aurora Limited (for now). I have 21 days and 50 miles to test the Dash a bit more so I should not make up my mind in just a few days and only 10 miles on the Odometer. I'll give it another week+ and try it in different locations and if it still keeps me happy and the power isn't an issue then I'll keep it and return or sell the Rad Mini.

The biggest thing I noticed was how much easier it was to fold and carry down my stairs to the outside. I didn't realize how damn big the Mini 4 was even folded so it's a bit more annoying to get it down the 1 flight of stairs especially without nicking or scraping something on the wall or door to the outside. Plus when I put the Dash in my car it fits COMFORTABLY in the back of my Crosstrek even without the seats down. It's nice and secure too. The Rad Mini 4 was a pain in the butt. I had to put it in a certain way and then had to take the seat off to get the hatch to shut. Put a towel over the important parts that would MAYBE fall forward towards the hatch and scratch something.

What length of chain/cable do you use to secure your Dash?

EVELO customer support was amazing enough to include this 4 foot lockable chain with my order as well as a free Pannier bag. I also got ahold of an ABUS granite x 6500 110cm folding lock but I doubt I'll ever use it because it's just so damn big and heavy and I don't live in a city where I'd really need it. Now if I took my bike down to NYC for a few days I would whip it out but where I live the chain will suffice.

Thanks for the quick reply, does the 4 ft work well or do you find it's to be too long or short? How is the pannier bag working out? Is it a good size?

I love the Pannier bag. It's really quality and fits the rear rack perfectly. I did order a Topeak Pannier that has velcro straps instead of that click mount system just because I do want the option to have a bigger bag but the EVELO one they gave me for free is ACE. Quality made bag, good size and lots of space. As for the chain it's perfect. The 4 foot one they gave me for free is nice, heavy, it doesn't scratch your paint and it has a good quality lock mechanism. The size is perfect if you just want to lock up the bike to it. Honestly it really depends on how much security you need and where you live. You might want to remove the quick release from the seat so someone doesn't take the seat for LULZ (which happens) or you can put a smaller lock on the seat and attach that one to the frame as well as a lock on your bike. What I did was I watched a video on Youtube from EBR with Chris (I think) from Propel about security and they go over all the different ABUS options. If you have any other questions let me know!

Oh I also ordered a Thudbuster ST and a new seat but I was just told that the Thudbuster might be a little too short for the Dash since the Dash uses a longer post than usual because of it's size. They said if it doesn't work out for me they will take it back with free return shipping. They really are the best when it comes to Customer Service.

Evelo's stock post is 31.8mm x ~450mm long from tip to rails. They offer the current generation Thudbuster which is listed at 375mm long.

After some measurement and consideration, we bought the last generation model (G3) Thudbuster ST at 353mm long. I am 5'9" and there is plenty of insertion depth, so hopefully the 375mm will work out for you. If 375mm is not long enough, the Thudbuster LT is probably the best alternative in suspension seatposts at 420mm long.

I am also considering a Thudbuster buy am going to try out the stock post and seat first. Thanks again!

They're telling me the Thudbuster might be too short for this bike since a certain amount of the seat post needs to be in the bike for it to be stable enough so the Thudbuster being so short MIGHT not work for taller people. Luckily I'm on the shorter side so I'll let you know.

For the record the Thudbuster works great but if you're taller than 5'9-5'10 then I'd say you might be in trouble. Also make sure you pair it with a Cloud 9 seat or any other seat that has some cushion. The stock seat is pretty meh and has zero cushion which does not feel good when you hit bumps.

Edit: Some pics.

Hello. got some more questions.
What is the seat to floor distance on your bike? And how much lower could it go? It looks like it can go 4 inches lower? Where did you purchase the adapter? If you put the seat in it's lowest position, is there still room for the rack tail bag? Hopefully my bike gets here Wednesday, Fedex shipping delays. Thanks in advance for your feedback, it's helping me a lot!

The marks on the seat post are centimeters, so there's much less than 4-inches of downward adjustment available on the picture above. I'd say that the minimum seat height with our G3 Thudbusters is about 31" above ground.

Without trimming, the stock seat post would be an inch or two higher because it's so long and there is interference where the motor housing joins the seat post tube.

The aluminum seat post adaptor tube in the photos above comes stock with the bike. I purchased Ganopper brand 27.2 x 33.9mm adaptors because I bought 27.2mm seat posts. I wanted to use just one adaptor in order to limit any potential slipping. I think the quality of the Ganopper is fine.

There's plenty of room for the rear rack bag even if you slide the seat all the way back on the rails.

There is 4 1/2 inches more to play with after being at the 11 mark (to the minimum insertion point). From the ACTUAL SEAT post (where the seat is held on) to the minimum insertion point is 11 inches total. I actually changed saddles to a Selle Royal Lookin Comfort because the Cloud 9 is too big and relaxed and I ordered one of the Selle Royal bags that clip into the back of it for some extra storage. For me there's plenty of room for a bag (small or medium, I wouldn't go large).

Got my Dash this morning! It's 95+ degrees here, so only went out for a 1 1/2 mile ride. Pedaling without motor is not bad, going to be good exercise. Assist levels work fine and throttle acceleration feels good. I've yet to take it out on the "big hill", I'll hit that this weekend when there's less traffic. Even with the stock saddle, the ride was acceptable, this included going up and down the driveway curb. Never the less, I am going to spoil myself. I ordered a Cloud9 Metroline Airflow saddle and Thudbuster.
