Error 513

My new Riese&Muller Supercharger 2 is giving me error code 513 every time I ride it. Mine is the Supercharger 2 GT Rohloff with CX motor and Kiox display. I had it back in the shop but it still throws up the code every time after riding for a few minutes. I can feel a slight interruption in the power but then the bike behaves normally.

Are you sure it's 513?

For sure. I’ll take a picture of it next time. The shop had not heard of this code and I couldn’t find anything through research.

I was all happy about getting my problem resolved. Now informed there are no replacement motors available until April. My patience is wearing thin because every time the error message appears there is a loss of power until I clear the error message from the display. It happens every single ride.

Just bought a 3rd e-bike. Another Moustache, this one is a Samedi FS5 with a CX motor. Hope not to have any problem with it.

Pawww sad for U. keep the moral up.

I finally got my replacement motor and my bike works like normal. When my bike was in the shop they put a nasty scratch on the chainstay. I settled for them ordering touch up paint but just learned R&M can’t ship the paint to the US. I’m starting to regret getting this bike. Now my $9000+ bike has scratch before I even get to use it.

You should demand that the dealer properly fix the paint damage they did to your new bike. They will have to get the color formula from riese 7 Muller or have it laser scanned by a good body shop paint supply company.

Getting you some touch up paint is no where close to what they should be doing under the circumstances. If you want it properly done such that you cannot see where the fix end and the original paint begins it will take 5 minutes per day for eight days,

This damage needs to be sanded, then the exposed metal should be acid etched, then primed, the as many layers of high build primer with sanding in between till it is at the same level as the original paint, then a coat of finishing primer and finally at least two coast of matching top coat. Once the final coats have cured. a gentle sanding with 800 grit wet and dry to blend it in and then a final application of 3m Finness-it to bring it to blend it in. This is the method we use on the painted aluminum on our boat.

It basically will involve 5 minutes per stage, done each day and allowed to dry in between. The final two steps using 800 grit to blend in and fineness-it should not be done until the paint has fully cured for at least two weeks.

None of the E-bike companies do such sophisticated painting work.
That's a tall order for most companies. There may be a few boutique companies that may be willing to do that.

So far, Haibike and Cube have impeccable paintwork for their frames. Incidentally they are the top two E-bikes companies in EU averaging roughly 200,000 bikes per year.

Ravi, it is not an ebike company issue. His dealer did substantial damage to the paint job on his bike while doing a repair. Don't you think they have an obligation to fix the result of their carelessness? They made a healthy profit on the sale of the bike. If the guy they pay to fix bikes has to take 5 minutes per day for a week or so to fix it, so be it.

If they buy the materials, everything but the paint can be used for other jobs in the future. Getting the custom color paint will be the most expensive item. It is an easy thing to do if you have the right materials and the know how. Like I said, 5 minutes per day for each of the eight layers.

I would be happy to share our paint repair process, step by step, if requested.

I think you should get some compensation for the damage they did to the bike. Forget about getting touch up paint instead something like a gift card would be better.

That being said, you seem to have matte finish so I probably would just go for a simple touch up if you can find the right color (if you have a friend who has experience in airbrushes they may help in mixing it). Up close you will probably still see it but from a far it will look good.

It is not a big deal but I can understand that it sucks especially when you bike is brand new and expensive.

Just make sure that you are compensated, if your shop is not helping escalate the issue to RM.
