Equalizer electric fat bike - definitely not a recommended purchase!

Has anyone had any experience with this bike? On bikeforums.net there's a guy who's making this bike sound like the best thing since the invention of the wheel. I'm hoping for an electricbikereview.com review, to settle it once and for all.

Here's the thread: http://www.bikeforums.net/electric-bikes/1004743-buying-fat-tire-ebike.html

Anyway, I hope SOMEONE can provide some input. And NO, this ISN'T a spam thread.

A friend of mine, @roshan runs a small E-bike company called "Biktrix" and you could get a very nice fat tire Ebike for something like $1500 USD.
Be wary of information you find on the internet. Do your homework and educate yourself. The link you posted is NOT worth $3500.

I definitely don't think that bike warrants it's high price tag, and I'm looking for an actual bit of information. The guy on bikeforums.net sounds like a salesman,... IMO there are quite a few lesser priced options out there that are well worth it.

I don't see anything that warrants that price point or even close to it really. Nice enough bike and large battery for sure, but not uncommonly large (new model year batteries much bigger).
I would consider it in the 2k-2500 range personally.

If you go to the thread I linked to on bikeforums.net you'll see a guy who vehemently argues that all of us have no idea about how SUPERIOR the Equalizer bike is. I truly wish he'd be outed as the spammer he is. There's so many options these days, and prices are starting to come down. This guy has to be a shill.

I called that guy out last night. Somehow he's magically ridden all the competitive bikes, and deemed the Equalizer super most bestest. Oh yeah, he's also let people test ride his $3600 bike which generated more amazed reviews. I know the first thing I do when I spend that much cash on a bicycle is to hit the beach and let strangers hop on, right??

Bunch of bollocks. The reports on Bike Forum sound just like the "reviews" on the Equalizer website, which sound just like the "reviews" on Amazon.

The guy a salesman. There's no "perfect" bike,...but the Equalizer is "PERFECT"??? LOL! He can't have a discussion without getting upset.

The whole thread is spam. It was created by a guy who's using 2 names to talk to himself about how swell his bike is. A bunch of hooey.

The problem is no one is looking up the information of the user accounts (moderators) and seeing the posters as they really are. Sux,... Just be careful to keep it civil Joe,...let those guys get banned - not you! LOL!

No worries, I had my fun sleuthing it out..I'm done now. Maybe someday a second copy of that bike will be built, and someone can do a real road test of it ;)

Ok, a replacement battery is $1,499 for this thing? This bike just gets "better" & "better",...lol!

I'm disappointed!

Clicking the link provided, I was expecting to see Edward Woodward, riding a fat bike. :(:D

I was also expecting to click the link, read the spec and then respond by asking if anyone had actually looked at the spec. I didn't even need to look at the spec, the photo alone told me what an overpriced bike that it was. I wouldn't even begin to entertain the idea of buying it.

Edward Woodward! I loved that show.

See, I'm totally enjoying the honest opinions on this forum. I luv being on the bikeforums.net site, but I hate the sometimes defense of obviously spammy posts. Not all bikes & ebikes are great due to excessively high pricing. Too many there, on occasion, will SWEAR it's great due to it's prohibitive cost. 2 bikes with the almost totally identical components may have slightly different prices, but not this extreme.

I royally busted that guy, and now he's accusing me of being mentally ill. Which is funny coming from someone using two identities to talk to himself ;)

I agree that the Equalizer is mostly old tech, another sourced from China clone with a few points like the 48V battery to spiffy it up! What I noticed was that there was no information as to the manufacturer of the geared 500watt motor or the controller and none of the pics of the motor include a manf. logo, so suspect for cut rate motor and potentially, controller.

As for the phrase 'almost identical' is not 'exactly identical' and if a good mechanic or observant rider were to examine the welds on the frame, the caliber of the steel or alloy of the frame, the caliber of bike components, etc. then you have to kick the 'almost identical' out the door as not a valid comparison.

For some illogical reason, many folks believe they are getting the 'Real Deal' if they buy it off the internet rather than from a LBS. Sad. They can't see it or test ride it but blindly hand over $$.

In this case I don't think anyone is blindly handing over $3600. As of now I've seen no evidence that anyone has actually purchased this bicycle. Both posters at Bike Forum, and all the reviews on Amazon, sound like the same person. There's some dude in Southern California with a bike and a website, and he thinks he's going to unload these tanks on people for an obscene amount of money. I predict he's wrong.
