Ecotric Hammer - Electric Bike Review

Okay, it's all handheld and not "buttery smooth", but I tried my best Hope you guys enjoy my take on the Hammer from Ecotric. (I'll put the specs down below as well!)

Hey guys! We are checking out the Hammer from Ecotric! This retro beach cruiser has fat tires, a laid-back position, and definitely captures the cruiser vibe. Although there are a few areas where we could see some improvement, the power and overall feel of the ride seem to match up pretty well with its $1,500 price tag. Obviously, that is just our opinion, and we would love to hear what you guys think!

I ride mostly on packed dirt/cinder trails and the Hammer seems to just float over everything. It's long wheelbase, front and seat suspension provides a very cushy ride. Highly recommended, but it's a big bike, probably limited to 5'8" or taller.

Hey there! Thanks for the warm welcome! I appreciate you giving us your experience! I agree that is definitely more suited more for the taller side of riders. Those biiiig tires DO NOT help I mean, they do, but not if we're trying to get more people on it. lol

I have the Ecotric Seagull. I modified it to turn it from a mtb into a cruiser. I added Jones S, handelebars (Jones Bikes) and it all to comfort level. Addd a big cushy seat and added a good seat suspension as well. Now I have front and rear suspension. The tires that came with the bike went flat too much so I added kevlar tires that are near puncture proof. With fenders and lights, this bike is near perfect for me. I did have to replace the control unit, and battery, but Ecotric sent them to me, no problem. Still under warranty. I weigh 250 and can go 28 mph just like you said. I keep it in pos 3 and I can get around 40-45 miles on a charge with hills along the way. The battery works alot better in cooler weather. Better milage between 66-70. Great bike for the money for sure. Lots of fun!

Also, glad that Ecotric customer service worked with you to resolve those issues with the things you needed replacing! Usually and Ebike company customer service stories seem to be bad, so I'm glad you had a good experience here.

I'll post some photos real soon. My girlfriend has the Peace Dove Ecotric, and we ride together some days, on the long paved bike trails around here. We want to ride at night this summer, so we have added alot of lights. I'll show you this thing in the dark too. Really nice. I did learn to be prepared out there for break downs. I ride 25-30 miles on many days around lakes and rivers and it would suck to be stuck that far out. So, I bring a phone, a short tow rope, (she can help pull me and vice-versa, if need be) and a med kit. Now, I'm waiting for extra fuses as a simple blown fuse can leave me in the middle of of noplace. lol-not good. Yes, Ecotric help has has been real good. Forget phone support, but email works good. They get right back to me and help fix the problem. Just wish local ebike shops would work on brands other than their own. And, local shops need to learn to work on ebikes in general. More and more ebikes are showing up on the streets, and these shops need to get themseves ready to work on all makes and models to stay relevant in the bike bizz.

This is my Ecotric Seagull w/ changes for comfort. I added an amber, side traffic warning light, on front post. Also a blue night light on top of frame. Front super bright light with mp3 player for my mental well being-lol. The rear lights are super bright for daytime use as well as night. Too many bikes with no lights out there, and too many wrecks with cars. Lights save lives. So, this bike handles all the steep hills and even though it is a bit heavier (75 lbs) w/ the kevlar tires and extra suspension seat post etc. it's worth it to me for the extra comfort on long trips. Many people want to know who makes it. Well, me and Ecotric. I bought this in April last year. My exercise/ fun machine.

Here's a few with the lights on in a darker room. Let there be lights! I only use the tail lights and sometimes the front side amber light in the daytime. All others are for the night. These are all usb recharged and actually last a long time without re-charging. I also added an alarm with remote, and an mp3 player which is mounted on the front light for my road tunes-lol-I'll be 72 next month and this keeps me out trouble and out of the ER. lol-hope you liked it. Hey Rob! She's a beauty! I love the added lights! A friend of mine, Mitch (yes, we do have the same name lol) redid an Ecotric Vortex recently, and I thought the transformation was pretty awesome! It's cool what you can do with a little creativity and a decent starting point He ended up upgrading the controller and battery to 48V and says he's able to get 38-39MPH top speed now. Hahaha that would be pretty wild!

Wow-that's fast on a bike. I only get to 38 mph going down long hills, and it can get a little scary. Pretty cool his was able to upgrade like that. He's got some good electrical/mechanical skills. In case your wondering, the handle bars on mine are made of aluminum. Nice and light but super strong. They are made by a bike shop in Southern Oregon called Jones Bikes. They have some great looking bikes and gear there. But, not electric. The front bag I have was also made by them to fit these sway back bars. Those things are so comfotable on long trips, it's amazing. Gives it a motorcycle feel with alot less stress to the shoulders than normal bars. Their about $100.00 and come in black as well. Well worth it. Just add a riser and these bars, and your instantly in the comfort zone. I went around a beautiful local lake yesterday that was a total of 33 miles, from my place and back. My arms and shoulders felt great when I got back. Don't know why anyone needs or wants to bend over to ride. So hard on the body. Just my opinion. Glad ya like it and tell your friend lets go ride. I want to see that beast! Wonder if had to change the rear hub as well.

Thanks. Those are made by Jones Bikes in Ashland Or. Their called H Bars and sell for about 90 bucks. With the extra crossbar it gives lots of room for lights and control displays. They also sell the tool/phone bag that sits between the bars. The bars are are strong aluminum and very light. I did have to have the bike shop lengthen the rear hydraulic brake line to raise the bars. Much better ride now.

The brightest tail lights I could find are made by a Cal. co. called Cygolite. These things have many modes for night and one called daylighting that can be seen for a mile in bright sunlight! They are not cheap, a little over $40.00 a piece but I put two on the back for safety and I have two headlights from the same company which have a good pulse mode. I use one in daytime in pulse mode and both at night in soldid mode. Very bright! The yellow light on the side is made by Brightside an English co. These are really nice with 4 different modes and lets cars see you day or night at intersections. The blue light on the center frame is actually a belt light that I cut and mounted. It looks great at night! I got it all on Amazon.
