Ebike tour of Puglia, Italy

There are mountains in Puglia, but there are areas with rolling hills, too, which wouldn't require an MTB to handle if the mid drive motor were decent 😉. Lived in Napoli for 3 years, and spent a month or so in Italia every year since, until COVID - at this point, ANYTHING Italian sounds like paradise! Not in summer, though - Puglia in summer is a sizzling griddle🔥♨️🔥.
Puglia can be Africa hot but then I'm Sicilian so I'm a gene carrier.
Also along the coast is where you want to be anyway... Cooler, more to see/do and none of those pesky mountains

I make my own tours I guess. I load up our bikes in my truck and we go to where we feel like being, the beach, the mountains, or the desert. That's wonderful thing about where i live, a couple hours drive or less I can be riding in my choice of environment. I'm not sure I would enjoy a group thing anyway, I like to do and stop as I want on my schedule.

In Italy?

OK, this is not an ebike and this is not an organized tour and it is in Tuscany. It may give folks some ideas though.

Also, why ride a specific MTB if on pavement? I ride in the hills around here just fine on my nerdy Dutch style bike. I shall say that technically I ride in the foothills of the Cascades and sometimes on unpaved foresty roads.

You could probably buy an ebike and ride for as many days as you want and then sell it to one of these tour establishments before leaving at a much more modest loss then $1000/day
Tours in general I find to be a waste as they usually include a few places not worth visiting and on their schedule.
What I need is (1) to have my bag moved, (2) an emergency support number, (3) transportation to/from the airport and (4) a bike, since I can't take mine on a bike. Could I arrange these things on my own? Perhaps, but probably not outside my home country, at least not reliably. Most bike tours, from what I've read, don't include guided sight-seeing, although some do, so that's a big difference from bus tours.

If everything you want to do in Tuscany is sipping wine and riding some boulevard, then everything is easy.

I would, however, ride from Siena to Montepulciano, just to buy some Brunello wine there :D

Mere 47.3 mi with over 5,000 ft of elevation gain. Some rough roads on the way. And up to 11% grade climbs. Are you with me on those funny rented Italian e-bikes? :) Because I would immediately rent a decent e-MTB or a strong commuter e-bike there :)

(Been there done that. With a car).

I think my bike would go up those because I have done about half that elevation gain in 8 or 9 miles. It was a battery sucker and I had a hard time getting started back up the road if I stopped.(a throttle would have been good) Battery usage would be more of an issue for me than the bike, except I would want a comfy bike like mine.

I think Cowlitz our e-bikes would do. A small issue is you cannot transport your e-bike to Europe, while I could (potentially) drive my Vado there :)
I'm sure there are many e-bike rental points with better e-bikes at more reasonable price.

When I visit Tuscany I prefer to stay in towns enjoying the beauty and little delights you find everywhere then the roads between them calculating elevation gain.... but thats not here nor there as this thread is about Puglia and how a basic ebike is all you need to do so there... but maybe that's just me....

. I'm more the sipping wine, enjoying food, and riding the winding roads comfortably kind of girl 😉. I would NOT be interested in steep climbing to Montepulciano - that's what taxis are for 😁.

I believe the original site has guided tour options

I'm not interested in that kind of riding, Stefan, but you go right ahead 🤣🤣🤣

I've got a bigger problem--no passport. I do have an enhanced driving license so I can go to Canada and ride. :)

I also really hate flying for long lengths of time. Was once in a culvert plane incident going off the runway during landing. Luckily, there was a record amount of snow on the ground so it was a soft one. I'd rather take a boat.

I have just looked at the getting a passport. Thinking....

I would want to fly only after Covid is less prevalent. That might be never.

We have flown through COVID, because we have needed to for family. We're both fully vaccinated and almost fully boosted (I have not yet gotten my second booster, due to being sick), and we wear our kn95/kf94 masks. I'd fly to Italy without much worry at this point.

I'm thinking this tour would be great in early October, and it's penciled in in my calendar 😁. Already keep passport current because of prior travel, so I'm good to go!

We will be going to the Ariège in the French Pyrenees in the fall, barring any pandemique lockdowns or nuclear wars. It's a beautiful area! Happened across this YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/channel/UCJ7RyAkWkB2UeBhrRkzKGWQ, and while they are avid road cyclists, they have some information about ebikes at their website https://www.seektravelride.com/. (It is really bizarre to hear Australian accented French, but I try to overlook that 😉😄)

Get a passport! Once you travel, you will want to do more traveling. I'm on my fourth passport, I think... (I didn't know you could get just "a page" of a passport. How does that work, anyway?)

That whole region is great for adventures, i had my first experience of wild wolves there whilst camping in the mountains, strange experience for a brit as we have killed all our apex predators, sheep are the most dangerous creatures ebikers will face over here.

The funniest accent i ever heard was a scouse lad (liverpool) speaking french in a very provincial shop, ending the conversation with "....please mate."

Actually it might not be.... i was in a bar in Frankfurt and we got talking to this bloke with a really thick irish accent, sounded like a kerry accent, so i said to him where in ireland are you from, he replied "Oim german tha woifes oirish" i nearly fell off my stool as i'm of irish (irish irish as in recent not american) extraction. Absolutely perfect irish accent. o_O

Mind you the dutch are odd too the youth have either a west coast or east coast american english accent depending on what tv they watched.

Fixed it. I have no idea what a passport page is, other than an effect of failing to delete a part of a sentence.

I'm just seeing a lot of places to go in Beautiful British Columbia and Alberta, and then we have the Palouse to Cascades trail...
