"As has been the case for several years, e-bike sales bolstered the report. Electric bikes accounted for 9.8 percent of all wholesale bike sales in the first quarter, up from 5.5 percent of the total market in the same quarter last year. Wholesalers sold in 11,562 of the bikes, worth a total of $22.4 million, or an average of $1,941 per bike. In the big picture, the high average price of e-bikes helped offset the unit decline in the transit/fitness segment, were the average unit price is just $311."

following on the school in UK who has banned expensive jackets because some students might not be able to afford them. "Poverty Shaming" it's been called.

I was reading in a couple of articles that Rad Rover did over $30 million in 2017.

Or, due to reckless e-bike riders, they will manage to sway legislators to limit or prohibit their use. Currently, state e-bike laws are going both ways. This is a sensitive issue of which every rider should be aware.

In the category of $1000 to $1499 price points, less than $2.5 million ebikes were sold in 2017. And in the category of $1500 to $1999, only about $7 million in sales occurred. Saying One model got $30M, out of more than 300 brands, and Rad Rover capturing 3x total actual sales sold in the $1000 to $1999 price range combined ???? Maybe you are off a decimal point (at least.)

2017 e-bike Annual Sales were around $67,000,000 according to the below data.

2018 ebike Sales if you roughly extrapolate the Bicycle Retailer quarterly numbers, could be around $88,000,000. Maybe as high as $100,000,000, as quarters can vary.

It would be interesting to see what the 2017 sales for Rad Power bikes was. I could not locate that info, only 2016.

Here in New England, NEMBA has been proactively lobbying land managers, LBSs etc. since 2013 that "reckless" use of ebikes is inevitable.

I took a couple of MA officials on Class1 eMTB rides on state park singletrack this Summer to demonstrate how hard it would be to do so with sub-750w pedelecs. I plan to do more of this next year; hopefully others are too.

It's been hard to find other off-road pedal assist enthusiasts anywhere near me to join the effort... anyone reading this that might be interested, please PM me!
