E-Bike Suggestions : $3000 Budget

As I tell most of my customers, leave it to the test ride. Have multiple locations using 20+ bikes for bike shares I think makes a statement about the reliability with riders averaging 8 miles commutes (one way). After sales service and support with IZIP is probably in line with being on par with the best, after all they also took care of Haibike up until a couple of months ago.

I have an izip Treking that ended up with battery, and battery replacement problems. They (Santa Monica CA izip store) gave me an E3 Nitro loaner for three months and refitted the Treking from the in-frame battery (no longer available) to a rack battery. Total cost, zero dollars. So, a little bummed about the bike, thrilled with the care.

I'm going to be using this bike mostly to commute to work.
It's about a 50 km (~31 mi) round trip with a big hill at the end going into work.
48V 1000W should be good right?

Another option would be to DIY too.

Open to any suggestions!
Range is all about how much 'power' your battery can carry, like a cars gas tank.

The higher the voltage, the more cells the pack has, hence it's size.
The Amps depends on how much each cell can put out.
48V 1KW 25-30AH LI is a manageable size to give you some real power.
~$1200.

I build motorized bikes and to me regardless of the power source, gears change everything, and there are a lot fine bicycles with gearing.

I like mid mount anything that ties into the bikes pedal system.
The you can pick the bicycle you like and add it.

You can go all out with something this Specialized full suspension 9-speed dual disc mountain bike...

A fat tire dual disc 7-speed bike...

Or just a simple internal 3-speed bike...

The whole SickBikeParts 36-90+V 1680W e-Cyclone motor kit is ~$400.
How you do the DIY job is is up to you, just an option to consider ;-}
