like rutabagas one of my favorite root crops,as we get older our bodies actually develop a bit of immunity for things like caries, etc, plus some of the smelly hormones are less and less,it has been noted that the human body can develop a certain level of 'funk" and more or less remain at that level of stench( some of my"bohemian" friends,eg.) it is actually possible to be too clean just as a hospital can harbor some of the worst germs because beneficial and less harmful protozoa and bacteria are held in check and not allowed to crowd the super germs out,did find out one thing though less body hair usually equates to less funk" the days of"alleyop" are over.one crazy development i noted was bathing in the river kept body odor way down ,our natural odors are usually a reflection on diet, bathing habits, laundry, where we work, etc.special forces operatives know this.one thing that always puzzled me was a lot of woman who blanch at the slightest odor of sweat can happily ride a smelly horse all day,i apologize i do not like the odor horses bring or a diary pond for that matter( if you have critters you have drek pure and simple.)Cologne makes me sneeze.
I use dilute original Palmolive dish soap to bathe because I do not want to smell like a blueberry, or strawberry, or watermelon, or any other of the 15 food choices body detergent comes in.
On hot days, after a long ride my natural odor is rootabega. Same as my father. They sell the fruit in summer at hardware stores in Appalachia.
One advantage of being post retirement age, odorferous bacteria does not grow on my skin anymore.
