Damned eBay! Now what?

I assume a dirt boat is for use in a dried up lake. Should be handy for future droughts.
Belgian landsailing team mooning on their dirt boats. We also like hard water sailing. iceboats.

Jane Goodall documented a case where a low status male chimp took two empty five gallon steel kerosene jugs up a hill and started wildly banging them down the hill. This caused the other chimps to scream and cower. This loud act made him become sexually active, accepted by the females and substantially raised his status. Note: Full Disclosure, I had a crush on Jane Goodall at age 4.

You should have seen his status rise when Jane showed him how to lick the nectar from a split mango

Hmmm,I am being led to believe this a non-specific forum and one can say about anything that strikes ones fancy( just the way I like it) besides those cans may be for sale on EBay, got jumped on @ "EBikes forum" the other day for a micro-managed thread and considered leaving that group. If its interesting it does not bother Me you could post about"Wattwagons" on on a "Koran" forum and it wouldn't bother me( I know one shoudn't stray far,OTH do not "throw the baby out with the bath water" because IMO thats one way People can find out new things.I have seen many forums degrade into a private discussion groups for a few and they do not seem to last( Grammer Nazis beware!)

So why then are you busting his balls?
ps... smiley face :) means it was said with humor.

Zorro Platedo has left the building, when a forum belongs to a select few persnickitdy ones( one can only hope their Al foil is of the proper gauge) the road to Serendip is littered with the wrecks of the narrow minded.
My Mother just passed and this computer is giving Me fits, so away I go!

Where are you going?

Persnickitdy Serendip ?
To the land of "Serendip"( might learn something there) I believe Mom basically passed on Her terms, She had quit smoking a long time ago, still died of lung cancer( never start a bad habit and you will never miss it).

If you are disenchanted with eBay, there is another platform called Offerup, which is an app and everything is done within the app. Works well for local area and for things which app-savvy people want. Bike parts could work on it. I've both bought and sold on it. One time, I was selling stuff for my mother - - she was downsizing her household stuff before moving. I took pics on my phone, the pics upload easily to the Offerup app, write the description, price it and boom, it is listed. Somebody saw the item of furniture, bought it by paying through the app (you can also meet up and do cash, that's up to you.) They then arranged for some other app (like an Uber platform for movers) to get a truck and movers to pick it up and deliver it to the buyer. All digital, all by phone. Worked seamlessly! Trippy. But if you are in a digitally astute area, it works.

My biggest issue with eBay was giving them access to my bank account. Heck I don't even use debit cards tied to an account. As it turns out there are quite a few good online banks. So I created an account just for eBay. Just another layer of complexity to what was simple. eBay/PayPal.

@ChezCheese:) , Tom needs to reach a wide audience. He has things such as model specific displays that people who need them would do a narrow search for to find a seller. EBay is ideal for that but they have made it hard for him.

I do the same thing. I linked a zero balance free checking account to PayPal/eBay. I use it mostly for buying now though.

but there is NO WAY I could

1. Have as big a market seeing my items
or
2. Get the money I'm getting for these items. We know it's about supply and demand. Ebay pretty much assures the demand will be there if you have anything marketable. In my experience, they simply have no competition. That's the ONLY reason sellers put up with the
CL reaches a wide audience but there is no buyer protection where people feel comfy paying before receiving the item. So CL deals are pretty much only in-person buyers within seller's geographic area. Obvious advantage is CL takes no cut and won't control your dealings or have a way to claw back your sale proceeds. But those are the very same controls that make ebay buyers willing to pay up front before shipping happens...there is always trade-off.

Problem there is if buyer protection kicks in and you don't have funds to cover the ebay/paypal claw back it's considered a credit default they can legally collect on in court and report the default on your personal credit. I have been selling high value vintage guitars and amps on ebay since 1998 and have to maintain a minimum balance AND very good credit or they limit how much I can price an item for.
