Complete this sentence... "For me, ebiking means..."

Ok, so guys and gals, awesome start, lets remember that we are completing a sentence. Ok, I played the grammar police card, but somebody is going to write the sonnet...

Today I rose up from the couch
Tried a stretch, but got an “ouch”
Thought, “my e-bike’s just the thing
to make my aching muscles sing!”

Dug out my heated socks and gloves
The ones my freezing digits love
Added rainproof pants and boots
A windbreaker completes the suit.

Topped it off with toque and helmet
And headed for the cold and wet
Tossing a farewell to my wife
I left my comfortable indoor life

And with a final “What the heck”
I climbed aboard my trusty Trek
Turned it on and pressed the pedal
settled nicely on my saddle.

The bike responded to my touch
as if to say “Thank you so much,
Let’s get this show out on the road”
It never seems to mind the load.

We sprang to life as if as one,
reliving all the joy and fun!
Behold the fresh air on my face
As down the street we start to race.

The scenery just goes flying by
as I start to get the e-bike high
Today will it be road or trail?
Lofty hill or lowly dale?

It doesn’t matter, I’ll just ride,
the Trek will take it all in stride.
Sometimes I’ll stop to take a picture
Makes the memories all the richer

And so my friends, I do salute
This e-bike passion, it’s a beaut!
May all your rides be filled with joy
as you embrace your newfound toy.

Long may you ride in bliss and rapture
and may you often stop to capture
the beauty of your great surround
But keep your wheels upon the ground.

Ride freely, with an eye for safety
When in traffic, don’t be hasty
Don’t assume the right-of-way
And live to ride another day!

(Today I hit 5000 km since getting my bike in early July.)

All purple prose aside, my eBike has given me a new appreciation for biking that I had given up more than 15 years ago for sailing. My wife can no longer sail and I would struggle to race the boat at my age, but the bike keeps me active, motivated and more physically fit than I’ve been in years. I am really enjoying the solitude, getting out in the landscape and fresh air: Quiet time.
