Comparing my Vado to the Creo

I have been riding a Vado 3 for the past 2 years.
As I just got my new Creo Expert, I though I'd share a comparison.

Due to the virus restrictions, I have been riding the same 25k route a lot lately on my Vado.
I tried the same route on my Creo while doing my best to match speed and exertion with my previous Vado rides.
Over about 5 Vado rides, my battery usage was about 150w.
The same ride on the Creo has averaged about 95w.

So I think it's safe to say that I will get about the same range from the Creo with a 320w battery as I did with the Vado's 460w battery

My sport setting on the Vado was 30/60 while the sport setting of the Creo was 50/100. Those settings seemed to give similar boost.

Really enjoying the new Creo and an added benefit is I can now ride with my wife who is using the Vado :)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Glad you are enjoying your Creo as well as your Vado, it might interest you that your Wh consumption comparison is in the same ballpark as those between the Levo SL and the regular Levo. I agree with those (including the lead engineer behind the Levo SL) who say that the turbo setting on the SL is somewhere between the eco and trail settings on the regular Levo.

This would seem fairly likely anyway, but I did hear from a source who is in a position to know more than most of us in the general public that a Vado SL is in the pipeline.

I wonder if my wife would notice if I upgraded to a Vado SL? Maybe I'd get away with it if it's the same color....😉

The Vado SL might be interesting but I'd probably pass. I need strong pedalling assistance and Class 3. I'm afraid of the carbon fiber frame/components because I am an "accident attracting" type of person, that is one who falls with the bike, hits object; and carbon is too brittle...

Same in the e-MTB world: Some riders of e-MTBs love the Levo SL but others appreciate the powerful albeit heavier Turbo Levo.

OT How about getting one of these
for you.
You could even head for a 100miler ;) easily then.

I could have one custom built for me, exactly to my specification. I didn't decide on that. One of the reasons is the e-trike takes a lot of space during the storage, the space I don't have. The other was such a trike is basically limited to the road. Third reason is the weight. It would be very hard to transport it inside the car even if the vehicle were partly dismantled. The last reason is all recumbent bikes/trikes are very low and drivers may not see them in heavy traffic; these are inherently unsafe.

Besides, there is a legal problem. Such a trike might be made as a road-legal one. Can you imagine manoeuvres necessary to get it onto a bike path? I can't.

I look at my bikes this way:
Vado: it is my diesel pickup truck. Lot’s of torque, can carry a lot of stuff and can go most places.
Levo: it is my Jeep. Pretty nimble and can get through almost any off road terrain.
Creo (alu version): it is my sports car. Fast and nimble on the road and requires more attention while riding to get the most out of it.

I rode one of those Scorpions with the FS when I was shopping trikes. Compared it to another that had a leaf spring for the front suspension. Drove both over a brick road or similar to cobblestone, with the Scorpion I couldn't feel the rumble at all, one thing that sold me on the thudbuster seat, as it has the elastomer dampening that the Scorpion uses. The leaf spring suspension was not near as smooth.

That scorpion was a nice piece, can only imagine what the electric version would cost as the FS was a pretty good price.
