It’s day and back to the dealer. It has an intermittent communication problem. I will turn it on and a fully charged battery will read dead and there will be know pedal/motor feedback. Power it off, back on, and it works correctly and runs like a steed. A warranty claim has been issued day one and the dealer is going to tell them to send me a new bike.

This forum would have suggested a likelihood that the original poster's new como would lose power on day one?

I purchased a new product. Product is defective. They are going to have to correct it, either thru warranty or by replacement. There is a 30 day return policy. Funny how this is my fault. Great to be a new member on the forum. 🙄

Ya. Sorry for that.

As a relatively new member, I too have found that there are a few very aggressive and unhelpful members who instantly jumped down my throat. They are few in number, but it can be very off-putting. On balance, I’ve found that the number of people who are helpful here outweighs the aggravation of dealing with those who aren’t. And the “ignore” button will come in handy too!

That’s great to know. 1st impressions aren’t that great. I expected a better community than a flaming FB group.

Reality check. Before you consider plunking down $4k, $5k, 6K or mor for an e-bike, it might behoove one to review any discussion group converations discussing various problems or items of concern. You can always buy a cheap Yougo, but if you want a high end e-bike, think very hard about all the things you need to research prior to that choice. It's not "flaming", it's reality.
It is actually flaming on two grounds:

First the issue the OP describes (no electrical power) is not a systemic well know highly frequent problem on the bike.

Second it definitely has NOTHING to do with the IGH which is a mechanical gear box that has Zero effect on electrical power delivery issues.

So it does look by reading your posts that you jumped at the occasion to dump your well know point of view about IGH bikes on a poster who’s issue bears no relation to your IGH grudge.

:)

Thank you. Yes, I do take the time to do research. I buy nothing without reading reviews, forums, etc. I found nothing in all my reading to warrant backing off on buying the IGH, so I went ahead with my purchase. I am sure Specialized will rectify the issue one way or another. Any perceived ignorance on my part is just not true.

I have a good buddy that was having bike issues and asked me to recommend the right new bike for him. He had been riding a van moof s3 that he absolutely adored...... me not so much.

I know him well and I know his bike preferences. He does not have the patience to shop and has no acumen for the technical. Money is not an issue for him. He does not own a screwdriver and wouldn't know how to use one if he did . To him 'lube' is something that has nothing to do with bicycles. I suggested the Vado 5.0 IGH and shortly thereafter he purchased one. I've helped him with several things related to his new bike over the last few weeks. Nothing technical. Just piddly stuff.

He called me today just giddy. He absolutely loves his new specialized bike. Now this isn't the right bike for me.... But I did not suggest to him the bicycle that I thought would be best for me. I suggested the bicycle that I thought would be best for him.

I love my igh.....until mile 30. Then we are no longer friends and I'm peddling the sludge.
