There is something strange about the cultural connection between coffee consumption and cycling. You might think that in the world of sport and fitness, people would consider coffee only for its caffeine content, but the relationship between cycling and coffee is a bit more complex than that.

coffee caused cramps in my calves when i swam. it actually chelates calcium and is certainly not good for long distance rides.

Yep. A surprisingly large group of them would gather outside a Starbux near my prior shop, that I'd see VERY early on a Saturday during the summer. That was last season, so not sure what they did this past season, since I relocated and Covid also hit. If I had to venture a guess, they likely kept riding and gathering, maybe even checking the dunkin donuts menu uk in between sips of coffee, but then again, appreciating the hard core 'determination' of most avid cyclists, masks were likely 'optional'. My observation has been over the years, that not much will deter an avid cyclist in their various life's pursuits.

I have been thinking real hard, about adding this kit to my bike survival gear.
I have wanted a cup of JO numerous times when cross county riding etc,
in about 5 minutes I could have one, always stopping by a spring/cattle tank for a quick rest, when it's hot out side. I always ride by myself, no one likes my type of riding....lol

Here is a chrome bike I made electric in 2019. It was called Creo Eater and it had a coffee cup holder so I could sip while passing Lycra dudes on Specialized Creos. The mid-drive is silver.

That bike had and eight-speed internal gear hub, a half-link chain, 16-T sprocket and a 50-T chainring. It looks like it has a thermos for refills.

So what is it about cycling and coffee? Pastries, too. Long tradition in cycling, I know, but seems more than just tradition.

No shortage of nice stops with other offerings around here. But what I always find myself WANTING most is coffee — usually with a pastry. And the missus, who normally never drinks coffee after breakfast, is always just as eager as I am for a specifically coffee stop. *

Yes, caffeine + simple carbs = rocket fuel. Anything else involved?

* She always says, no pastry for me. And then takes a sizeable chunk of mine. Apparently, pastries are healthier for you when somebody else orders them.

I didn't know what was wrong with me but it was bad. I had developed gluten intolerance. So no more pastries for me and my favorite French place is closing on the 6th after 27 years. The last one has brie melted into the bacon and has guaq. I ate there for free for one year.

I don't drink coffee. It doesn't agree with my stomach. I love the smell of it, though. Anyway, I drink tea, which can often be an afterthought at coffee shops. It depends.

I work across the street from the largest coffee roaster in NorCal. They roast for all the biggies but are not allowed to say who. For years it smelled great but neighbors complained so they installed a multi-million dollar scrubber system that is almost the size of two semi-trucks. The same happened to a chocolate factory in Chicago.

My town has one brewery per 10,000 people. And about 1 taproom per 1,000. Beer tourists come here.
