Chain drop fix?

After riding my new Bulls ebike for about 50 miles, I had my first episode of chain drop. Not fun, and harder to fix on an ebike. What do other do to fix this issue? I see that there are devices for sale in $25-45 range to prevent this problem, should I just get one of these?

Welcome to EBR. This is an easy fix... take a look at the chain-catchers and select one that will fit the downtube on your bike.

Try a narrow wide chainring

What bulls do you have? my bulls crossover would loose the chain and with the chain guard it was a bitch to get it back on. I gook the guard off and put a chain chainring caught and smaller chain ring it has not come off sense.

I have the Bulls Cross Lite Evo with the Bosch Performance motor

Interesting, I had no idea these existed. As the bike is new, I will see if I buy the chainring they will install for free.

ya I have the same chain guard it sucks. but you need a cranks arm remover tool to get it off. then another tool to get the chainring nut off. then a chain ring gaurd. not sure what size chainring it has but if you don't use the last rear cogs it may be good to get a smaller one. if you want a list of what you need let me know. I think the chain guard was about 40 and each tool around 25.00 each.

I thought Bosch already used a narrow wide chainring. My Ruffian does. I'll check my Haibikes.
Hello!

Bosch offers only single-profile chainrings currently. Many of our OEM partners elect to use narrow-wide chainrings that they source, or manufacture on their own (though Bosch provides engineering specifications and design guidance, the OEM decides what to put on each of their eBike models.) Haibike uses some really cool machined narrow-wide rings with integrated "mini" bash guard or "guide ring." Not sure where they get them, but the one on my demo Haibike is quite impressive!

For issues involving chain retention, a clutch-equipped rear derailleur is critical (as is proper adjustment by a qualified tech). I won't ride without a clutch der, eBike or otherwise.
