Mine has a great big crack round part of the rim near where the tyre sits in, going to try jb weld, but dont think it will work.
Cannot find a new or seconhand one anywhere on net, dont care if a second hand one has broken motor, sure i can swap my good one over.
thought giant would have more stuff around on the net for the older models.
Would appreciate any ideas or fixes.

The rim is just a bicycle rim. Contact:

Great customer service. They will walk you through the process of how to measure and buy a new rim and spokes/nipples. Then just have your hub laced in the new rim.

Will try the jb weld first, then once that has set will built around with jb weld steel stick putty, if it works will put how its gone here, might help others too know if jb weld any good or not.
Still waiting for it too come through post, then will get cracking (excuse the pun) with job in hand.
Still would appreciate it if anyone spots one anywhere for sale, dosent hurt to have spares,
Thanks for link J.R. will have good look at that.

That sounds like a waste of time and money. I've used JB Weld including steel stick on several things and wouldn't even remotely consider it for this application. At least in the US you can easily get a 700c rim for <$50 including shipping. If you can get one with the same ERD you should be able to use your spokes and just transfer the hub and spokes. Lacing a wheel is not especially difficult if you take several good pictures of your present wheel to help guide you and keep track of things. There are youtube videos on how to measure the ERD of your wheel and how to lace a wheel.

Did the brake pads on your bike wear through the rim sidewall? With rim brakes a bicycle rim is a wear item that eventually may need to be replaced.

No the part of rims where the brakes hit are fine, its just above where the hard part of tyre rim sits.
Might get another wheel, and try that with the motor though, take a bit trial and error but will be safer in the end.

Jb Weld will last about one revolution on that repair.
It's toast, get a new rim and fix it right.

Took your advice, and now waiting for new wheel to arrive, will find a less strenuous use for the jb weld.
Thanks
