Brake Sensor

I have one ebike and decided I would fix up another but I ran into to a problem on the brake sensor. My controller has two pins but
my new magnet sensor has three pins. My question can i cut the cables and not use one wire?

Brake sensors are usually just a small switch built into one of the brake levers. Two wires for these are typical.

What magnet sensor are you referring to?

Brake levers with two wire are designed to connect one wire to the other when the lever is closed. Electricians call this a normally open switch.

When you have three wires, call then A, B, and C, wire B is connected A until the lever is closed, when you lose the connection. Then Wire B connects to C. Wires B and C form the function of a normally open switch.

Get your multimeter and put it into continuity test mode. Find wires B and C, the two that are connected when the lever brake is closed. Hook that to your controller.

Sorry I took so long to get back. I cut the cable to find three wires Red, White & Black on the three prongs. On the two prong there was just two wires Black and White, to get it to work I just hooked the black to black and the two whites together and tied the red to the white. It would not work without the red tied to the white. You can convert three prongs to two..
