Bike powered off while riding and wont power back on

Hey all. I have a 2015 Motiv Sherpa with a 500w rear hub motor. I installed a new bigger battery from 3rd party FTH Power 20.4 amps. On my 2nd ride with the new battery i was power up a medium hill at max pedal assist and then the bike powered off. The bike battery light would light up when the button was pushed but nothing on the display or motor response. Any tips?

Check the battery's connection to the controller and the contacts. Also, some batteries have a fuse, which may have blown.

From the EBR review, the Sherpa is a cargo bike using a silverfish style battery, a battery design that's been around for years. I have a similar battery. Did you rebuild the old battery or did you buy a new one? If it is a new one, did it lock into your frame properly. WIth the contacts on the bottom, they can bounce out if not locked. This is probably the first thing to check. Agree with AL. Look at the contact blades for anything odd.

If you have the old battery, try that too.

On my silverfish battery, if the battery LED works, the fuse is good.

For any battery more than a few years old, cleaning the contacts is a good start.
