Bike continues to accelerate after i stop peddling.

I have an easymotion hub drive street bike that continues to propel the bike 3 to 5 seconds after I stop peddling. If I peddle once..the bike takes off for 3 to 5 seconds on its own. The higher the power setting the faster she goes.
Its really hazardous coming in to intersections..etc.
Any ideas how to fix this and what might be causing this.

Thank you

With no make or model info to go on, my first bet would be this is a very inexpensive controller design with garbage for programming. If not, you might ask the seller about you're issue, to see if it's normal, or if it can be repaired.

Ebikes are usually wired so that applying the brake levers will stop the motor ( and it shouldn't restart if the brakes are released). For that reason, I've never worried about how long the motor persists when I stop pedaling,

I believe mine stop within a second after pedaling ceases. I can watch the power display (watts) drop to zero pretty quick,

Thanks fellas ..being a hub..Dapu I believe..on this Emotion it always had a little push after peddling. But now it takes off for 3 to 4 seconds after.
Sometimes it it engages by itself without peddling..over bumps and movement. I wonder if it could be tied to the throttle?

Sounds like the cadence sensor magnet, usually located near the bottom bracket on the crankarm near the pedal...

No easy answers here. That issue "engages by itself" could be throttle or PAS sensor related. Troubleshooting required!

For instance, one could disconnect the throttle for a while, and if the problem is still noted, plug the throttle back in and disconnect the PAS sensor and try that. Maybe find the guilty party by process of elimination?

I suggest contacting tech support at the manufacturer, and just give the brake handles a little touch and the acceleration should immediately stop. My bike had unintended acceleration several times (prior to a product recall, so now it is fixed). It wasn't severe, and I was always able to give the brakes a little touch when it happened to stop the motor.

I think it's a good idea to contact the manufacturer in case this is a defect, because they should know about safety issues with their products.

My old Evo Cross used do so this, sometimes for considerably longer then 3 - 5 seconds. I believe it was related to the torque sensor near the back axle.

My working theory at the time was minor road vibrations were registering as torque inputs. I quite enjoyed the sensation - it was like having a cruise control Ebike!

Gently check the tension on the two screws and see if that makes a difference. I found the brakes overode it no worries.

If it is an Easymotion bike you're sweet out of luck for manufacturer support, as BH has pulled out of the US (and Australia, as I found out when my Dapu hub failed).

Could be a sticky freewheel that moves the pedals a little from momentum and that cadence sensor thinks that’s you pedaling.

Thank you but tech support non existent:(

I've owned two ebikes. They both have motors that continue to operate after I stop pedaling, also for 3-5 seconds. I've gotten used to it and just take it into account. Like someone else said, if I need to slow down or stop sooner than that, the cut-outs in the brake system stops the motor instantly.

Sorry to hear that.... there are makers with tech support... their bikes cost more... my bike has dealer support and that and the tech desk guys have been super helpful.
Their tech support was reputedly good, and their bikes certainly weren't cheap at the time, but they've since bailed from the market.

Would be nice if some EasyMotion hub users would comment on whether their bikes had this same run on issue.

Has this bike been doing this since new, or did it just start doing this?
