The crazy part is I had no idea I have gone that fast! I just noticed it last night and saw that one thread about it being difficult to achieve top speed! This is the ultra eagle. I also haven't hit any crazy downhills around here. If I did it would go over 50 for sure! But that's a bit too sketchy for me! The thing is that it feels really stable at high speeds it doesn't feel like it's going "crazy" it feels smooth and stable that's why I never knew I hit 48+ mph I have seen it hit 40 on the display.

Though I will say that there was a learning curve as far as the settings and getting it tuned to my liking but not everybody has the same riding style. It's still supposed to be a mountain bike and not a high speed racer but everybody is different so learning the programming is really important to get it dialed in how you like it. I wasn't happy with the out of the box settings but I wouldn't give up and I got help here and did my research to get it tuned to my liking. I was also really close to returning it but I did tell Roshan to charge me whatever he needs to get it returned. I never expected a free return (I also read the terms, nothing was hidden as far as return charges/shipping and restock fee) . If youre that type of person to expect a mail order company to take that type of loss then you should definitely buy locally!

Did you ever free spin the back wheel off the ground with the throttle? I did that and it showed my max speed like 50mph. It didn't occur during a ride.

Absolutely not!! You mean if the bike was on my stand with the wheel in the air and I hit the throttle? No I have not done that. This is from riding. I couldve hit a steep hill that I don't remember that got me to that speed. There's a lot of steep hills in Colorado. I'm definitely a speed demon with this thing lol I also have all my programming settings maxed out in assist 9.

Theres still room for a 14% increase in my top speed which I'm going to do later just for the hell of it. I have a 50t chainring installed now and I'm going to upgrade it to 52t once the one I have now wears out. I will also need to change my rear cassette from 11-50t to a 10-42t.

48 miles per hour, or almost 78 km/h? this would require about 3500W, best case scenario with the right gearing. Not possible with any Biktrix bike on the market yet... haha

Most likely the back wheel was off the ground at some point. I've done it before too and was surprised, because I've yet to cross 64 km/h with my Ultra 1000 (by the numbers, I'm using all my assist and human power efficiently to hit that speed).

It should be just barely possible to break 70km/h with the Archon controller'd Ultra motor, hell of a price to pay though! I think they run about 2 grand for the motor w/ controller installed, not to mention the battery necessary. I've decided I'm happy enough with 60+ km/h top speeds 😁

That or the tire size is not accurately set.

It's quite possible with an ultra and a very slight downhill. I have hit 65kph on mine with the throttle pinned. I certainly could not pedal with it at that speed, but I can pedal up to 55kph with a crazy cadence.

But the point about the wheel size and speed calibration is valid. When my new bike arrived I felt it seemed off (indicating faster than actual speed) compared to my other one, and after comparing it with my GPS bike app, it showed about 10% or so fast. I upped the wheel size an inch in the settings, and it's bang on now.

Whats an accurate way to check my speed? Because if that's the case then the bafang speedometer is full of s*it. How would the back wheel be in the air? Are all bafang speedometer crap? Because on my rear hub with the 750w bafang motor on that display it shows 42 mph when I hit a particular downhill.

This is Colorado I'm up on the mountain there's a lot of very steep hills here. What do you use to guage your speed?

My 750 Bafang hub bike tops out at about 35mph (55kph) with full throttle, but I can squeeze out maybe 38-40 with a slight grade and a tailwind. lol

Do you have the Ripcurrent? My fat tire bike which is the 750w is the one that shows 30-32 mph on flat and there's a really steep hill here if I hit it at full speed it has shown 42 mph but my record was down even steeper hill and only once ever I saw it hit 47 mph but who knows if it's accurate.

Great question, I usually use a GPS speedometer app on my phone, or let strava do it and pick out the top speed (and more data in general) from the ride.

As for correct tire setting in the DPC-18: set the number to the measured height of your rear tire. It's usually between 28-30 for most plus/fat tires, if the tire and parameter actually match then the speedo on the bike works quite accurately (mine's within 1km/h with roadside radar speed checks).

Do you mean to measure it like this? From the bottom of the tire to the top? It appears to be 28. So is this what I should update my wheel size to in the display?

I updated my wheel size to 28 and I hit 43 mph going DOWNHILL level 9 max assist and holding the throttle and pedaling hard. I hit 38 mph on flat. I will be getting a go pro soon and try to record.

You guys are crazy lol. I took a ride for the first time on an ebike last night while I wait for mine to arrive in January. My brother in-law just got a Super73 RX. I hit 28mph and said that's plenty fast. Granted I only took it around the block, and it was at night, and I wasn't wearing a helmet (I know but it was just a quick spin around a quiet neighborhood block). Anyways I thought going in to this whole purchase that I wanted to do 35-40mph. Last night changed my mind. Im cool at 28mph lol. Weird thing is when I was young I spent plenty of time on a Honda CBR1000RR and never felt like I was going too fast.
