Best folding ebike for snow?

- I live in a pretty snowy city and would like to continue riding in the winter; main concern is rust, durability and life of the bike, whether the bike’ll last with me after the winters

- Prefer folding

- Prefer 20in wheels believe it or not. Easier to bring around with me

- Prefer concealed electrical set up. Same concerns with weather. I live in a pretty wet place.

- Not a huge fan of the fat tires. A bit thicker tires than normal is cool but not too fat. Wanna keep riding when it’s warmer obviously but feel like the fat tires get unnecessary wear and tear when riding in warmer weather since I just ride to get around the city and I’m not much of an off roader except for occasional park trips.

- Price isn’t a huge issue, willing to pay for quality, but obviously having as low a price as possible would be nice

THANK YOU FOR ENTERTAINING MY VERY PARTICULAR CHECKLIST!!

Wow that's an interesting criteria. I'm in the upper Midwest and don't cycle in winter, mostly because of car congestion and safety issues. And unfortunately the amount of salt thrown on the road after a snowstorm. I'm thinking that would be more corrosive on a bike than the moisture from snow. Sorry, I have no specific suggestions but can't wait to see what you finally purchase.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I live in Upstate NY. It’s a struggle isn’t it? Maybe I’ll tone my list down just a bit. Thanks again!

I have a fat bike and find about 10% of snow rides in Central IL are fun. A couple of inches of powder is a blast. BUT, snow on ice, wet slush on ice, wet slush, and snow that melted slightly and refroze are all a bitch! The worst is our paved trails after people walk on the snow and the it freezes. It’s like a cobblestone road! Quality extended fenders and spike tires should be your highest priority. I ride all winter long if the temp or windchill is 20 or above. But refuse to ride on nearly every snow.

Buy two sets of tires. One set of summer tires, and probably studded tires for icy roads. The chunky tires are good for story book fresh snow conditions. How often do you see that? Never, unless you get up before the plows. It will be plowed, shoved aside and you're on top of a layer of slick packed snow/ice. You probably want studs.
