Battery connectors. info needed.

DIY engine guys need to understand a lot. I started with a non-running Italian motorcycle in high school. Learned about engines and ignition on my own. Almost got drilled by an errant spark plug that blew out of the motor. Found it 30 yards away in the grass a month later.

I will say that a good running moped is less start up money than an electric scooter. Probably better for getting out of town fast too.
 
You buy one of these $20 dvm, it will last decades if you keep the battery out of it when stored.
Freight is $8-12.
You hook plus to plus minus to minus. I'll lay you money the two outside pins of the 3 pin connector are plus & minus.
You use the continuity function of the meter, which beeps if continuous, to determine which pin of a plug you cut off an old cord goes to which color wire. Then you mark those + & - too. Your klein or ideal terminal crimp tool (post 2) will have wire strippers.
Before you cut the old battery off the wire to the motor, you mark the motor end with plus and minus. I use scotch tape folded over and a sharpie
 
Hello I need some info from experienced e bike owners I have an electric bike and its connector for the motor to the battery is a 3-port house plug like this:

but when I search for an official name or serial number for a plug like this I can't find any. I need to know so I can find a converter to fit to the new battery I bought that uses a xt60 plug like this:

any ideas? any help at all would be great.

That is an IEC socket. I realize external is male, but the IEC plug is a female receptacle that has male pins.
 
Hello, I am new to this forum and hope using an old thread, that is similar to my own question, will show up for the members offering advice. My use of proper/improper 'lingo' is based upon Google - so don't hit me upside the head if I use language incorrectly.

Here goes:
My very old bike needed a new battery and the local shops strongly support the eBikes they sell instead of someones older products or custom products. This bike was designed and built by an individual over 10 years ago. I already purchased and installed the sled (this battery is shorter so the new sled was required) for the new 48V 15Ah Ion battery.
Now I need to convert the 'controller', that receives the power from the battery, from a four blade/pin connector* to a C13 or C15 plug that is directly wired into the controller just like the four pin/prongs are. I need to do this because the battery housing does not contain the four pin connector to connect with the controller. I recall that the bike itself is the ground on this build - but do not know if I need a C13 or C15 (grounded and rated for higher utilization) connection. Can you suggest which one I should?

If I should just use a left over C13 - what does the wiring look like since the red/black scenario is not valid - the plug has green/white/black.
