Battery confusion

I just got this UnitPackPower rack mount battery off of Ebay,. I plugged it in overnight, but not with the power on. I realize now I think I was supposed to leave the power on while charging.

Anyway, at this point, if I plug it in to the charger, and press the battery level indicator, it shows all green. The light on the charger is green too.

If I unplug it the battery from the charger, it shows that it has no charge, and the charger light still stays green.

Is this normal behavior? Do I just need to charge it longer?

You must mean that you didn't turn on the battery's on/off switch? I've owned plenty of batteries with on/off switches, including rack batteries. They always charge with or without the on/off switch activated.

Chargers will show a red light when they are charging. Green really means they are not charging. Did it show red inititally?

Since it is illegal to ship a battery at 100% charge, it is unlikely you got a fully charged battery delivered, It should have needed charging when you hooked it up. Does it work on the bike? Either you have a bad charger, or a bad battery,

Thank you, Harry. The instructions, which are not written well and probably sent through Google Translate, say to have the power switch on when charging. I hadn't noticed that before I charged it overnight.

I can't remember if the red light ever went on. There was a fan on initially on the charger when I plugged it in last night, and now if I plug it in the fan doesn't go on.

It does not work on the bike.

I think I am going to return it. I also thought it was going to come with a rack and it didn't. The seller had good reviews, but something feels sketchy.

Do you have any recommendations for more reliable rack batteries that come with a rack?

I appreciate the help

Did you get this one for $239? It says seller pays for return shipping. You may not realize how difficult or expensive it is to legally ship lithium batteries.

The same battery sells on amazon with a rack, and is definitely listed as non-returnable, but they will send you a second one if the first is defective, This is one problem with buying ebike batteries.

Do you have a voltmeter? DId the battery have any output on its terminals? If you can show what's wrong with a video, maybe Paypal will just give you a full or partial refund,

Sure thing! I’m glad that was the issue and that you don’t have to deal with the headache of returning it.
