Battery at 1 Bar - No Power?

I finally ran my Aventon Level battery down to 1 bar (1/10). At that point I had no power on PAS or throttle. Anybody else experience the same? I was hoping the battery would be like my vehicle gas tank reading. Even on empty I can cruise a few more miles.

Likely an issue with voltage sag with the actual voltage going below the BMS set point. Bars are a horrible measure of actual battery voltage levels.

Agreed Rich C. The fact that the Aventon Level has 10 Bar increments in the battery meter is one of the reasons I chose the Level. While in Monterey California I rented some EBikes that had 4 bars in the meter. I did not like the few increments, it made me nervous when I got below two bars, knowing the vagaries of battery level indicators.

Tom, you should know running your battery down to the point it won't go any further is pretty hard on it, and making this a common practice is going to cost you when it comes to battery lifetime/number of charges you get out of it.

As far as running out of power when the battery meter gets down to one bar, consider that a "lesson learned", and make sure you are close to home when it get's down to 2 bars.

These meters are just like automotive gas gauges - notoriously inaccurate at best.

Yes, thanks. We ran it down by accident. My wife and I were out riding and she did not check the battery level before we left on our bike ride. About half way through the ride I noticed she was lagging behind...

One of the reason I ride a Bosch powered eBike. It calculates an estimated range based on the last couple miles ridden. If I'm 5 miles from home and the computer says I have 2 miles range left, I drop down a level of assist, or even shut off the assist on flat ground to save the assist for grade changes.
